Deserve ain't got nothing to do with it once you've already picked up one. He's gotta learn to shut his mouth and walk away.
You're also getting hung up on this particular case. My overarching point is why is it socially acceptable for a coach, the adult in the room who is being paid, to every get kicked out? Players getting two technicals and an ejection would be a major headline, and that guy would be labeled immature, selfish, and unable to control his emotions. But it's ok for the paid grown up to act like a petulant child.
it was his first ejection ever, and it was complete bs, so i'm not sure why this is a thing to take a stand on.
Please do not in any way dis my man Gary, “problem” was meant to be an understatement. More like a crisis. All I have to say is wow Cumberland is amazing, he has to be beyond gassed he’s played every minute and on every possession he is busting his ass to get open this kids a killer. Gary Clark was “a problem” Jarron Cumberland is “a killer”
I'm in the minority on this one, but I'll never fully understand why it's mostly socially acceptable for coaches to gift the other team 4 free throws and get kicked out. Imagine the freak out Cronin would have if Brooks just snapped and got 2 technicals and an ejection. Coaches do it regularly and no one bats an eye. A player does something like that and it would be a main story on ESPN.
Additionally, it's a sad and bad look when your own college players are the ones showing restraint. And the alleged adult, who is the only person besides assistants and trainers that's getting paid $ is incapable of keeping his emotions in check and knowing when to shut his mouth and walk away. It's entirely irrelevant if you're right or not. Once you get that first tech, you have to dial it back. Be an effing adult and professional.
Fortunately it didn't cost them the game.
Cumberland is incredible.
Our defense has regressed so much in the past 4-5 games I don't even know what team I'm watching. Weird season.

I'll repeat this again because no one ever reads an entire post, but this is more of an overarching thing for all of college basketball, not just Cronin.
Some of you are also pretty much proving my point by not giving a crap about a coach getting an ejection and giving up 4 free throws. This stuff happens across college basketball somewhat often and no cares.
i think the point was justified or not its a bad look for players to have to restrain coaches.
I understand exactly what you were saying. I am also shocked this is Cronin's first T given his trademark antics on the sideline. I am sure he has done a lot worse things so the first T was probably a surprise to him...but the 2nd T was just dumb...turn and walk.
That really was a huge turning point and really almost cost us the game. They went on something like a 20-8 run. We were up double digits...why pick your fight when we are doing well?
Anyway, Cumberland was fantastic last night as many have said. I worry a little bit about the chemistry of the team when they know the second half we are going to get the ball to Cumberland on every possession. What does this say to guys like Williams and Broome etc? We just have to watch? I think Brooks and Scott are not going to be too affected by it...they can still get their action off feeds, rebounds, and lobs etc.
I get what you are saying but I disagree. Each member of the team has a job to do. The coaches job includes dealing with the refs and ensuring his team gets a fair shake. This will at times result in some confrontations. It’s not ok for players cause that is not their job.
Cumberland still looks for his teammates. So I sure hope they are ready to catch and shoot and don’t become spectators

I understand the assist thing but Keith has an ortg of 147 and 137 the past two games. He is a double digit machine. When a player is being efficient like that I think we can keep them involved more. It also seems when Cane's usage is low he tends to not play very well but as it goes up it seems his effectiveness does as well...but I haven't researched that.
I want to keep Cumberland's usage at a pretty high level but he's going to tire out over the long haul if we can't use some other players.
Do you think acting the way he acted is going to get them a fair shake? Did it make the refs better?
Do you think Mick calling for them to be suspended, and for their pay to be taken away will make them more likely to be "fair" to us in the future?
There's fighting for your team and then there is doing what Mick did last night. Mick crossed the line.
I don't think the coach needs to go crazy over 1 foul when our team is doing well. I think you go crazy when you get a few bad calls in short order and the tide is turning. No big deal I guess.
That's the part I worry about the most
Are you saying officials hold grudges and make calls accordingly? Then they should be fired.
