@BFeldmanESPN ESPN Mag poll of 50 blue-chip recruits: 28% said they'd take $50,000 if offered by a recruiter if no one would find out.

If I went to my 'dream school', there is no way I would put myself before my team, coaches, and more importantly, the University.

Then again, most don't do that, but waver amongst schools where they best fit in, or where there is perceived playing time, etc.

I can see why some recruits like Cam Newton (allegedly) might consider it..but would any of you take 50,000?

If it weren't guaranteed that no one would ever find out, it would be extremely tempting- luckily though, there can not be such guarantees in life. So no.

I would not take the money. Way too much to lose. 50 G's is a lot but not worth ruining my career and most importantly... My good name.

Ruining your career? How exactly has this hurt Reggie Bush, career wise?

I guess I could understand the "good name" but people get over the fact that you took money in college.

I think the answer depends on your background, I wouldn't, but money wasn't important growing up because my family had it. If I came from a background where we didn't have any and I could use it to alleviate my family's situation, then I would reconsider. Big time college football is big business, the only ones that are held to some kind of standard are the players; coach under contract? not a problem; give out 25 scholly's when you only have 20, hey! no problem- you can't qualify to enter our school based your academics, who cares, come on in, we have plenty of tutors and BS classes to get you through school. The biggest joke by schools with big time programs is that academics, integrity or loyalty has anything to do with football. The one word I associate with Big Time college football is hypocrisy.

I would take the money unless, as others mentioned, I went to my dream school. Then again if my dream school offered me $50,000 to go there, I probably wouldn't have so much love or respect for it anymore. So I'd probably take the money then too. Reggie Bush in football and guys like Derrick Rose in basketball are doing just fine. The NFL and NBA couldn't care less if you took money in college.

And if we think reputations are permanently ruined by misdeeds, we need look no further than Ray Lewis, who probably got away with murder and is now all over with sponsorship deals.

And really, why should they? That's why I was wondering what greatone was getting at when he said "ruin your career." Maybe your reputation?

And I can't believe Ray Lewis could get away with that. I wonder why people are so upset about Big Ben, and just kind of don't remember Ray Lewis? Maybe it's because Ben was "caught" doing it, I really don't know. Or, time heals all things, who knows. It's probably more that if you are good, people will forget, or choose not to notice. Shameful really.

This is way off topic, but I don't know what it is about athletes. I'm a huge NHL fan and you rarely see any NHL players doing these type of things, then again maybe it doesn't get reported because of lack of interest. But, I have had a theory for a while that I think it's the culture they grew up in. Most of the NHL players are from other countries, and tend to be very different than athletes in the NBA/NFL. Just a small rant, back to taking 50 grand.

So you play "good person" and in the process blow out your knee and never play again, and no one remembers your name. 50,000 grand sound any better?
