Come on man, its pure numbers. Does Miami hockey prefer white players? No. There are significantly less talented black hockey players. I don't think he intentionally avoids white kids.

I agree to an extent. But 1 player in 5 years? Gonzaga has no problem with this issue. Same with Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio State, etc. Must be a UC problem.

Why do you consider it an issue?

For the next home game that is a white out, they are referring to t-shirts. You can leave your white robe and hood at home.

It is a problem because Cronin has given up on a significant group of possible recruits. When he focuses on one dynamic only, he is not able to fish out of the entire pond. Also, if he refuses to provide scholarships based on one's ethnic background, then that is a MAJOR problem. No other sporting program at UC has a diversity problem. And Eppy is NOT a scholarship player.

This year, he is, look it up. Cronin even said it, we had an unused scholly and he wanted to reward Eppy. So technically, he is, but really, he isn't.

There are stupid posts, and then there is this.

Adam H., Mitch McGary, Kevin Pangos, Donnie Hale, Jaren Sina, Austin Burgett, and many others prove how ignorant you are.

Not to mention that it's already been stated that he did in fact give Adam H. and Alex Eppensteiner a scholarship. He IS a scholarship player.

I call it as I see it. Prove me wrong. How much effort was given to bring those you mentioned to UC? I doubt much. He couldn't find any players better than Gaines? So it is just dumb luck that those players all choose to stay away from Clifton? And yes, he had a scholarship laying around so why not give it to Eppy? I guarentee had he been a junior, he would not have gotten it. Just imagine, if you can, the shoe on the other foot. No african-american scholarships for a 5 year period. Wonder what would be said then? Wonder what you would think Long Haul? Diversity is a great thing and the University of Cincinnati Basketball Program does NOT have it and hasn't for a very LONG time. You may not like this ugly truth and go in to denial over it, but it has to be recognized for what it is.

Are you being serious? When confronted with facts that he did recruit and offer scholarships to caucasian players your arguement shifted to he didn't recruit them hard enough? I'm sure he found lots of players better than Gaines of all races, but they didn't want to come here. Cronin takes the best players that will say yes.

This is not a Cronin problem. It is a university problem. It has gone on since the days of Tony Yates. And I am not sold that those players were given much love. But I am in the minority here as always lol. Scoot over, Ralph.

generally speaking black people are better than white people at basketball, I am white and I dont have any problem admitting that. I could careless if we have an alien on our team as long as they are good at basketball I don't really care

Like Sam Cassell?

Mick also gave Nick Aldridge a scholarship. This is a complete non-issue and anyone that wants to make it an issue is a rascist. I'll say it plain and simple. I seriously think this thread needs to be closed as this topic not only has been discussed but the implications are disgusting.

Are you serious? I think you have a dirty little secret. Too bad this site isn't moderated anymore. What little respect I had for you is completely gone.

Then explain to me how Xavier, NKU, Ohio State, Kentucky, Miami, Dayton, Indiana, and Ohio U. have no problems with diversity. I am not saying Cronin is racist. That would be idiotic. But I do think he is prejudice about a white players ability to play basketball in this league. If he tries to recruit players as others have said, then why does he fail EVERY time. There is obviously an issue somewhere. X, 10 miles away, has had no problems in that arena.
