During his 14 NCAA Tourneys as UC's head coach Bob Huggins never beat a higher seeded team.

In his second NCAA tourney as UC's head coach Mick Cronin beat a higher seeded team.

You got to love Mick Cronin as UC's head coach.

For the sake of argument, how many higher seeds did Huggins face while at UC?

To look at it both ways I'd like to know that as well as how many lower he played and how many of those lower seeds knocked his teams out.

No doubt it was a great win by Mick.

But let's wait awhile to compare his accomplishments to some of the great basketball coaches out there. Bruce Weber made a championship game at illinios, now he's going to coach Southern Ill. Things can change fast.

Me too. Its easy to get caught up in X's easy draw that got them to the sweet 16 and think everything is right again, but the program has been trending down since Mack took over and that looks to continue next year.

I agree, how stoked are UC fans that Mick got them to the sweet 16? Mack has done it twice in three years, and has never failed to make an NCAA tourney. Recruiting is better than it's ever been.

We'll see how things go next year, they kind of back doored into the Sweet 16 this year...with that good recruiting class and probably no Holloway or Lyons, we'll just have to see.

I expect a rebuilding year next year. Every program has them, just trying to enjoy this year before thinking about next year.

Xu's recruiting has taken a HUGE toll. Mack is winning with Millers recruits. Next year Xavier will be lucky to be .500.

The end of Xavier basketball is near

Dez is the best freshman in the A10 and Xaviers highest rated recruit is coming in next year.

Dez was always going to XU. Didnt matter who the coach was. His school had a pipeline of like 4 or 5 XU players.

Sweet 16 is cool but Final Fours is what matters IMO.

I don't know who rated Semaj Christian, but I'd like to be evaluated by the same guy. I might be able to crack the top 150 with that sort of overrating.

Xavier is irrelevant and should move to division two. No one likes them and their mid major players.

Uc owns this city and state. If uc played eggs today, theyd win by 40+. Please stop talkingabout that horrible program

edit--Both teams are in the sweet 16, don't want to ruin this week with X UC debate. Good luck...Mods, you can delete this stuff.

I highly doubt they've gotten 63 points better.

If you would, please rank the Xavier teams from Sean Miller's last year to this year in terms of quality:

Here are their seeds in the NCAA tourney:

Miller's Final season: 4
Mack's first: 6
Second: 6
Third: 10

Pretty clear decline. Like I said, its easy to think that an easy draw fixes everything, but the decline is still there. And even you admit that next year will be rough.

Obviously UC fans are excited to be back in the Sweet 16 after a really difficult rebuilding process. But UC has also gotten better every season under Mick. Completely different direction than X.

If you would, please rank the Xavier teams from Sean Miller's last year to this year in terms of quality:

Sean Miller: two sweet 16's
Chris Mack: two sweet 16's

Mack has the best recruit X has ever gotten coming in. Now, I will say, I think Miller is a hell of a coach- better than Mack. I think very highly of Sean, I think he is a top 15 coach and AZ will do great things with him. But, I think Mack has done a pretty good job in his three years at X. Its hard to argue otherwise, IMO.

Arguing just tournament success distorts the picture, especially when you get to play a 15 seed to get to the Sweet 16.

And his first sweet 16 was with a roster that Miller built entirely and had Jordan Crawford joining a team that went to the elite 8 the year before.

Like I said, if we were having this conversation 2 weeks ago, there would be no debate about the downward path Mack was leading Xavier. Absolutely none. An easy draw in the tournament doesn't change the big picture.

By the way, its hilarious to hear to Semaj build up from X fans. Talk about a disappointment waiting to happen.

Mack is a horrible coach and a terrible recruiter. He got bailed out by tu holloway this year otherwise x would have been nit bound.

Eggs is not good and will lose by 20 vs baylor. Next year, eggs will be lucky to be .500. Their recruits are awful and they lose tu. Mack has destroyed the program.
