So, you don't think UC's run in 92 to the final four was impressive? I mean, no way you could. Beating a 13,5,9 and 6 to go to the final four. Or, let me guess, you think that Memphis St. team you played in the elite 8 was pretty talented?

I don't care who you play, getting to the second weekend is a success. And, what makes a season is tournament success- thats whats important. Its why Ralph was happy to see Huggins go- he was a horrible tournament coach.

Getting to the second weekend is not success, it only means something if you win 4 more games. UC plays basketball to win the NCAA Tourney, not to go to the sweet 16. My buds Wilson, Thacker, Yates, Singleton, Bonham, etc. still carry around the disappointment of finishing 2nd in 63.

The only banners UC ever hung were 61 + 62 NCAA Champion banners until Huggins arrived and insisted on other ones for Tourney appearances etc.

This celebrating Sweet 16's has to do with the everyone gets a trophy society. Majors celebrate NCAA Championships, mid-majors celebrate sweet 16's because they feel everyone should get a trophy.
 
Not Guilty: I sure hope Semaj isn't as good as X fans claim. My buddy claims he's the 2nd best point guard in the nation :eek: (dont think that will happen)

BearcatMick: X will not lose by 20 tomorrow. X always shows up for tournament time the last decade, especially against better opponents. While I agree X is on the decline with Mack, your dismissive nature makes you (and the rest of us) sound stupid.

DontMissHim: You're right, going deep in the tournament is impressive no matter what. Some people get better draws, but its still impressive. I do agree with Not Guilty though 100% when he says X fans were so depressed about their program at the beginning of the A-10 tournament, but now think they're a powerhouse again.

Ok, so- Mid-majors celebrate sweet 16's. Right after you said UC started celebrating/hanging banners for tournament appearances...Good to know.

While I know Xavier got a break with lehigh, X did beat the third best team in the Big East.

Sweet 16's are great but I am not doing backflips about being there. I will also not be bragging about being in the sweet 16.

Sweet 16's are good seasons. I keep hearing about how XU is one of like 5 teams to make the sweet 16 four of the past five years. The other teams are really impressive.

I also dont hear other teams bragging about it though.

Final Fours are brag worthy seasons IMO but X's run is a great indicator of consistency.
 
Even though there has been some disappointing X recruits for Mack the past 2 years or so I think Christian and Wells are cant miss guys. I dont know much about the other young guys. Dee Davis seems solid?

I think the issue is that there are so many Top 100. You choose to look at him as the 5 star recruit Scout.com lists. Others will look at the fact Rivals.com has him listed as a 4 star 75th rated player.

Big difference between top 10 and top 75.

I agree that X probably won't lose by 20. Baylor does have a lot of talent, but they are young I believe. According to many Big 12 fans, Drew is one heck of a recruiter, but is a terrible coach. Not sure if that's true, haven't followed Baylor. But that should keep the game close. Wouldn't surprise me if Halloway hits the game winner at the buzzer.

Wrong. X is not good. They are overrated and will lose big to baylor. Next year x won't make any postseason and dont/kingsley will be calling for macks head. Get your popcorn ready

Best recruiting class in the country? LOL, maybe by maxpreps. He had the 4th best this year what happen? Did the big bad Pac 12 put his team in place?:confused:

You are right, Ralph said it. What do you feel about that? He thinks schools that celebrate sweet 16's are mid major. Then said UC hangs banners for Tournament appearances. I mean, what do you think he considers teams that do that? low-major?

I know you can't answer for him, just wanted to see your opinion on his thoughts that UC is a low-major school

So ESPN is everyone? Pretty sure half those schools aren't finish. You lose credibility when you think the recruiting season is finished in March.The meatball will prob end up with a top 5 class again by "everyone" and go on a stelllar run to the NIT in the mighty Pac 12 again. :D
 
And you never answerd my question....what happen with this year and his top 5 class? Surely a "top 15 coach" could at least make the tourney with all that talent, right?
