Will the Big East dissolve?

At this point, if you are the BE commish, you need to stop the bleeding. Even though it won't be much, just take a TV deal. At this point, it can only get worse if you try and hold out for more $$$.

Stop what bleeding? There is hardly any blood left. It's time to call the Big east dead. The time noted on the death certificate is debatable, but probably the time of the Boise announcement. But in reality, it was a certainty the moment the Big 10 took Rutgers and Maryland (causing the ACC to poach the Big East again).

From our standpoint, yes it is dead. But I'm saying in his shoes, it can't get any worse, just take a deal and stop holding out for a better one, which will never come.

I agree it's already dead, unfortunately this Maryland lawsuit is dragging out and preventing all the acc teams from leaving until it is resolved.

Anyone know who this guy is?

MHver3 ‏@MHver3

ACC is close to offering Uconn full membership and Cincy in FB only with provisions to join in all sports in the future.

MHver3 ‏@MHver3

Both schools would receive a drastically smaller share if ACC tv revenues for quite some time.

MHver3 ‏@MHver3

ACC was warned by espn that MWC was going to double down on both those schools in an effort to get some eastern penetration.

MHver3 ‏@MHver3

The biggest surprise is that no one other than BC seems intent to try and stop it.

MHver3 ‏@MHver3

@carnot3 in a sense. The MWC could very well lock up two of the ACC's best options for future expansion.

MHver3 MHver3 ‏@MHver3

@JimenezHitting if it all goes through could be as soon as next week

MHver3 ‏@MHver3

@bgandy777 but if the average fan can see it coming the ACC must as well. Proactive has always been Swoffords stance.

He is basically the equivalent of Greg Swaim. He gets a free WVU scout membership to direct traffic towards their boards by spewing these sorts of outrageous rumors. Apparently he has a connection in the West Virginia AD that someone allows him access to every conference realignment issue. Complete clown, never listen to him.

Ok thanks. He seemed pretty unreliable

I think its safe to say SDSU will be out too

@murphsturph: MWC to offer SDSU membership before offering any other school, per #BoiseState agreement: http://bit.ly/RtlPWt

The Mountain West will extend an option to San Diego State to join the league before offering membership to any other institution. The right of first option to San Diego State shall expire on Jan. 31, 2013.
