Im always looking at advanced stats so I decided to note down the Kenpom offensive rating of our guys this year and last year and see how many regressed or got better.

Every Single returning UC player has gotten better in Offensive rating from last year.
Jacob Evans has the biggest improvement among starters as he went from 112 to 124.1
And Justin Jenifer also had a 14 point increase in ORTG

As for Xavier:

2 of their 3 best players actually regressed efficiency wise compared to last year. Those players being Blueitt ( 114 down to 109) and JP Macura (123 down to 114.2).

Side Note:

A lot of people have Questioned Mick's ability to develop players over multiple years. However, with our current group, they all have gotten better year over year under Cronin in Offensive Rating. KJ freshman year is the outlier.

Good information and a nice post.

Thanks.

Thanks for this.

That actually might have been 2 years ago.

2 years ago, last year was SMU.

Since you brought it up, I do want this game to be in our hands pretty much the whole 40 minutes. Just like that Memphis game you speak of along with UConn @ home and SMU @ home last year. This year we have had a few of those too. I don't expect us to be up 20 the whole game but I want a comfortable 7-11 point lead the whole game. and for a minute if they cut it to 3 or 4 points I want us to push on the gas again.

I may not sleep between now and then. Too jacked.

Obviously there's always a lot of hype for this game, but it feels like even more so this year. Maybe it's because I mostly communicate with UC fans, and we're trending up, compared to X trending down. I think Dan Hoard said there have only been 3 shootouts where both teams have been ranked (or this is the 3rd...can't remember). A special game got even more special this year. X needs this win to stay ranked and snap a 1-3 drought in their last 4...UC needs this win to look like a serious contender and end X's 3-game winning streak against UC.

This should be a fun one.

All those things! We need this game. Not only for this season but going forward.

This game is huge for our fans. The UC athletic program is trying to re-establish itself. Upgrading FB facilities, entry into a P5 conference, new FB coach and a upgraded basketball arena around the corner. The support of the fans is essential to getting all those things done. Winning games against your arch rival and the team you share the city with is a must. We have beaten to death the state of our current program. If we truly want to own our city and be a viable candidate for P5 entry these are the types of games we need to win. THE TIME IS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saw this posted on another site and couldn't believe it. Since 1987 there have been 11 games in the series decided by 6 points or fewer. Our record in those games is 0-11.
