He's f-in' 68 years old. He has past his prime and I don't think they want to take the risk of all his baggage after this coaching staff. Plus, his buyout at Iona makes it cost prohibitive - I read it's $10M. Not a chance in hell that happens.

I agree 100% here. The decision has been made to move on from Brannen. It’s just a question of how much it will cost UC to do so. The parties are likely still negotiating.

I think they already had moved forward with an investigation. They likely found some cause to fire him and began negotiating with him. Things stalled so UC released this statement. Just a guess as I have no inside information.

UC is much farther along in the process than it wants the public to know. Cunningham is an attorney and this is not his first negotiation. He knows how this works. We will know where this headed sooner than later.

Maybe the rumors have been started by other coaches who are using the uncertainty CJB and staff as a negative recruiting tactic. I cannot understand why UC has not spoken on this topic. One way or the other, this has impacted recruiting.
