Power forward
Brooklyn, New York
Lincoln
AAU: Long Island Lightning
Ht:6'7"
Wt:190 lbs
Class:2012 (High School)

Strengths:
Murphy is a physically gifted big man who not only runs and jumps with ease but is also equally agile. He has an inside out skill set that allows him to face to score from both the low and high posts and step out to shoot to 18 feet with good touch on his jumper. He is capable of beating most big men from rim to rim and so also scores a good deal of points in transition. Defensively, he has the mobility to guard multiple positions and is also an aggressive shot-blocker from the weak-side of the floor with his length and quick bounce.

Weaknesses:
While Murphy has some inside-out skills he can become overly infatuated with the perimeter and try to do too much at times. His footwork and handle can both be sloppy at times and in general he must learn to be more economical with each bounce. His overall feel for the game can be inconsistent on the perimeter as well, occasionally resulting in unnecessary turnovers. Physically, Murphy must become stronger in the upper body and learn to assert himself more on the glass.

Bottom Line:
Murphy has all the raw tools to be a high level prospect at the next level thanks to his length, mobility, and athleticism. While he has the raw tool set to be a skilled inside-out forward he must learn to when and where to utilize his versatility in order to become a more consistent player.
