Earlier in the week, usfnation.com reported that 2013 big man, Chris Perry, had cut his list down to six. Murray State, Tulsa, Butler, Miami, South Florida, and Cincinnati are the final schools being considered by the three star recruit out of Bartow Senior High School in Florida. Today, Perry told me that there were two favorites in the hunt; Cincinnati and South Florida.
“I like Cincinnati a lot, and my friend Kevin Johnson is signed to play there too,” said Perry.
He is set to make a visit to Cincy on September 6th and will make a decision sometime soon after that. He doesn’t plan on making any other visits after taking a trip to the home of the Bearcats, which may put them in a good spot to sign Perry. As far as his thoughts on South Florida, Perry didn’t have a lot to say, but he informed me that location was key.
“South Florida is so close to home and I love their coaching staff and facilities,” Perry informed, “So that puts them in a good spot. Plus, I’ve already visited their three times.”
I wouldn’t quite count the other four schools out of the race, but these two definitely have the lead. Cincinnati recently did a great job with big man, Yancey Gates, and Perry may benefit from Coach Cronin and his staff as well. South Florida definitely has the local appeal, and being in the Big East helps as well.
At 6’8 and 245 pounds, Perry will bring a lot of size to the table at the next level. His quickness and athleticism will be questioned, but with a strong work ethic, he should be able to compete at a high level. Will it be Cronin’s ‘Cats dressing the young forward in 2013? Or will the Bull prevail?
