This. If he is playing for us in important situations we are in big trouble. There is a reason he doesnt have a big time scholarship just as there was a reason why epp didnt have one either. He is here to help the guys out in practice.

No kidding. Anyone else notice the other players in this recruiting class? ;)

Why is it important to mention his color? Does it matter? If he is talented and qualifies sign him up. he is a american hows that.

Did you mean to quote me or did you not understand the context of what I was saying?

Color doesn't matter...to me. It does to AmberColonel.

I'm often amazed when the tournament comes around how many of these kids who never had a big time scholarship offer tend to play well. Paxon for the bulls made a living off of just hitting open shots.

I just think it is important to not just look at how much an athlete a player is but also to look at his basketball IQ and his shooting percentages. I have no idea about the level of competition this kid had but those seem like strong numbers. Again nobody thought Logan was going to play much either.

You can't just pick out the needle in a haystack though and assume Twyman will turn into him. For every Steve Logan there are tons more than don't amount to much more than practice material. Sure everybody wants this guy to be the next Logan, but do you realize how likely that is to happen?

Yeah let's stop trying to find the next Logan and continue playing guys who can't shoot. That way we can just keep complaining about it.

I think we all want to have another Steve Logan on this squad. But don't lose sight of the fact that this guy is walking on for a reason. He has to be able to do more than just shoot at this level.

Dear God, please stop with this race shit. He's a white guy that can shoot, we need someone who can shoot. Do we need to be politically correct about everything? As long as he isn't a cancer to the team and can shoot, I don't care if he is purple. I was mentioning that he is white because he is, should I have said he was black, even though he isn't? I hate assholes like you who turn everything into a race war.

Just so you know, he isn't the one that started the "race shit". You are the one that talked about race and he said it doesn't matter.

Agreed. If he can play, he will play. It's as simple as that. I believe that one guy on Kentucky was a 3 year walk on that earned a scholarship his 4th year and now sees significant playing time. Perhaps that will happen here.

I'm just going to make it short, sweet, and to the point.

If you're expecting a walk-on to help the team out in any way during a game, you are mistaken.

That being said, I think it's pretty cool that it's Twyman's grandson. Keeps his legacy alive.

Sasha Kaun was a walk-on at kansas and he helped them win a national title......... Although I don't think this kid will see that much playing time, with hard work ethic and the right mindset anything is possible for a 6'6" kid that can score, maybe not the first two years, but if he works on his shot maybe his junior and senior year he could see 8- 10 mins per game

I have no problem with Rubles at the line at the end of a game that he has been playing in. He is a pretty good free throw shooter (and he isn't even a white guy!!). There is no way this young man will see the floor in games that are even close, there is a reason he is a walk-on. There are plently of kids who can "drain everything" but that doesn't mean that they'll be in at the end of a close game to shoot FT's. Based on your logic, I am assuming you are like 13-14 years old. Buy a clue loser.

If you watch this team shoot ft's, you would understand my logic. He might score 2 ppg, max. Not saying he will be Steve Logan or any other stud by any means, but he COULD help in hitting fts.Yes, he is a wak-on for a reason, but that doesn't mean he has no role on the team, maybe he could do well in a minuscule role like that. Epp pushes the guys hard on the defensive end in practice, maybe this guy could hit a ft or 2 at the end of games.

Thank you, this is all I was trying to say, but BearcatNTS, most banned user for a reason, was acting like I was calling him the next Steve Logan. Just because they are walk-ons doesn't mean they won't play any role at all, maybe they can get 8-10 minutes by the time they are a junior or senior. Definitely wont get much pt, but who's to say he can't develop into a guy who gets a few minutes a game when he is older.

If he can shoot ft's, he will play at the end of games. Do you really want Rubles at the line at the end of a game or a white guy who drains everything? Easy decision. I didn't say he will start or anything, but he definitely will do more than Epp. This guy looks like he is somewhere in between bench player and scrub. Epp scored 10 ppg in HS, this guy scores 22. Looks like you are an ignorant fool, Ralph's other account.

What does being white have to do with it? I'll take Lazelle Durden at the line if I can pick anyone.

It really has nothing to do with it, it wasn't meant as an insult or stereotype, but it is good to see some diversity on the team. I'm not like Amberly, Mick needs to recruit players that fit his style, regardless of color. If he was black and could hit ft's, it wouldn't make a difference. But it is nice to have diversity, if at all possible. I go to a school that is very diverse, and it is cool to see all of the different cultures and customs, so I think diversity is good for these young men.

Color does not matter to me. Racism does and Cronin DOES show bias towards black players when he recruits. His system of recruiting is highly prejudice. You can, and will, quote me on that gentlemen. And good to see my old arrogant friend back in the fray. Lets see how long we can go before getting banned, shall we, Bucky? And Longhaul, answer one question. Would it bother you at all if for the fast 5 years, UC did not recruit 1 black player? All I want is an answer.

I guess all of the black walk-ons were taken. That's why Mick was forced to choose a white walk-on. At least there is someone you can now root for on the team. Hope he is allowed his rightful place in the front of the team bus.

You know, you just may be right on that. And I always root for the team, just root more for watching Cronin fall on his arse more. And boy, I am not a racist. Just because I call things as they are, does not make me out to be what you assume. I am not a ralph, who thinks everything that man does is holy.

Mike Hart a walk-on is playing 17 min a game for the #1 team in the nation

It's always good to find the extreme examples and cite them as the systematic truth.

Seriously?

You wanna run through the numbers of average minutes per game by walk-ons in college basketball? How about number of games played versus DNP-Coaching Decision?

I think the problem with the lack of caucasian players needs to be looked in to at least. If it were african-americans getting squeezed, it would be national news. We welcome young Twyman to UC but have to keep our eye on injustices, no matter who the victims are. I agree with AC that the fact that scholarships are not given or accepted to caucasion players. Why everyone explodes on him over this is questionable.
