'13 NY G Max Twyman (walk-on)

I don't think anyone is pegging Max as the next Jack Twyman, but you're blind if you are automatically writing him off as the next human victory cigar ala Eppensteiner and Meeker. He has two huge things going for him that neither of them had, he's 6'5" and he can stroke it. Meeker and Epp are short guys with average at best shots. It's not unreasonable to think that by his junior androids senior seasons this guy could see some minutes and contribute. Not saying he will, but he has a hell of a lot more potential at being a contributor than any walk on in recent memory.

Kansas, Kentucky, Butler, Michigan and I'm sure others have walk ons or former walk ons that have contributed in the recent past. A 6'5" guy that can shoot...sign me up.

And by the way, before Epp we had a black walk on in Eddie Tyree, for those of you who care.[/

Haha human victory cigar, hilarious. But you're right, if you can shoot, you got a shot at playing. Ask Brad Redford: He has awful to mediocre skills at everything besides shooting and he got some playing time. Obviously it's different because that team sucks but the point being, if he can develop other aspects of his game, who knows what will happen.

At the very least he will be a good practice player that really helps the team and at best maybe he shocks the world and becomes an All American with hard work. Don't under estimate how important practice players are.

What if Max proved himself to be equal or better than some of UC's other players, or even starters..........would Mick give him a chance at serious playing time..........or would Mick write him off as simply a walk-on and not take him seriously?

If Max was stroking it in practice against some serious man-to-man D, that is every bit as hard as the games...........would Mick take notice and play him some minutes?

I'm not convinced he would.

Nice hypothetical that you could never answer because you aren't at practice. Pointless shot at Mick.

based on what?

Just saying... watching creighton play Foot speed is sorta overrated... they had players that weren't as quick as ours and we weren't blowing them away. So if the kid is a 6'5 guard who can knock down shots and (and this is a big and...) not be a huge defensive liability, he should see the floor. If it gets burnt every time down the floor on d it doesn't matter if he made every shot he took because he will be giving those points right back. But if player rankings don't matter (as the majority of this board has told me on multiple occasions) then why couldn't this kid compete for playing time.

sometimes it takes a coach to give you a chance. Redford for xavier probably couldn't play for a lot of teams because of his measurables alone but we could use his shooting huh

Brad Redford couldn't play defense at the Western Sports Mall. He was a huge liability on defense.

could be the next Barlow. this team can use someone that can knock down a few threes and some freethrows right

Twyman will go way of other walk-ons. He will sit til we are up by 50, the student section will cheer his name, then we will not see him on the court again for a month.

Per Chad Brendel, Twyman will not be attending UC this fall and will go prep so that he could re-classify to 2014.
