ya the line- ups next year are infinite, we have so many versatile players and we are going to be soo deep at every position, verry excited about this year still, but it looks like UC is here to stay in the upcoming years.

Highly doubt you will see a freshman starting at PG next year, at least early. I think Guyn and JDIII will have every opportunity to seize the job in preseason.

Totally agreed. Another great thing about Lawrence is his versatility. He's a mis-match nightmare for defenders. Next year we are going to be unbelievably quick and athletic, all with a lot of depth. JJ isn't exactly a center, but if you have him in there as a 5, good luck getting through that press.

The should get every opportunity to win the job and maybe they will early. But I have a feeling the starting lineup at the end of the year will be different from the beginning of the year.

Check out @sammyalbano supposedly he's a former editor for CBS News, Former Executive producer of Inside the Big East.

I'm pretty sure that @sammyalbano is Maven--the SJU fan who everyone on the SJU boards was talking about this past week.

Looking around on Twitter and the 2013 class is all showing love to Jermaine. Strickland tweeted saying this is one of the best recruiting classes and showing love to Jermaine. I was looking at Troy Caupain's page and he has a sweet pic reaching out to SK, saying SK is a role model to him and he can't wait to play side by side with him. I think it says A LOT when incoming recruits make statements like that about our current players.

call it a gut feeling, but I think caupain is serously underated, if he doesn't start at the begining of the year, I have a feeling he will be the starter by the end of the year, don't get me wrong, I love GG's defense and JDIII's ability to score the basketball, I think all of them will get alot of minutes at the pg next year I would not mind all of them averaging about 13 mins pg so that they can all have fresh legs.

I think another aspect of this signing is that it opens doors to other highly ranked recruits. I don't have any names in mind, but when a top 20 player picks this school above all others, it really says something. It lets other kids know that this is a "cool" place to be and Mick is building something special that other highly ranked players will want to be a part of.

not sure what the rules are on this board about posting other articles....but can someone post telep's full article?

Thanks!

IT pretty much just talks about how uc recruits tough players that may not be highly recruited, until they recruited lawrence, whois a tough player and a highly recruited player. It also talked about the main reason he chose cincy is because they recruited him the hardest and made it seem like they needed him at the university. and cronin visited him 3 times in the last month and savino has been down there to see him 3 times in the last 2 weeks.

I hope he is seriously underrated but I can't remember seeing any video at all on him. Anyone know if any video is out there on Caupain?

Well my gut feeling came from the picture he tweeted of himself with his mom and dad and the cake. Looks like he has a solid family around him. Jermaine was described as being polite and too nice. Obviously, he comes from a wonderful family.

Any slimy stuff going on behind the scenes didn't come from Mick or Savino. We lose out all the time. And if they had been throwing money around, they would have secured a top recruit or two before now. And I'm not saying that's what it takes. But it might with some top recruits. My gut feeling is that Jermaine is different, and it comes from his upbringing and solid parents. And I'm not accusing St. Johns of anything slimy, but some of the tweets and messages posted on other boards have insinuated stuff about UC we all know isn't true.

Jermaine is a solid person. His family is solid. They know the money will come later when he's in the NBA. If I had to send my kid to Steve Lavin or Mick Cronin, it's a no-brainer for Mick.

We shouldn't listen to these idiots who want to degrade this signing. All they want is attention, and by even addressing them, we have gone too far. These same whiners celebrated last year with Oblockpa, they've had their fair share. If St. John's can't win with the players they have now, they have bigger problems. They have plenty of 5 star guys, what would another one do for them? Lavin might've beaten us this year, but he can't coach. Come March, his team will fall apart as usual and be playing for an NIT crown with Eggsavior. It is a matter of pure coaching for him now, he has no room to complain about lack of great recruits.

We landed J-Lo.

This is amazing. Based on other threads, we have one too many players? I doubt he will red shirt, though.

Redshirting still counts against the scholarship allotment. Someone on the roster has to go. Whether it be a current player or one of the 5 incoming freshmen.

Kilpatrick (probably won't but) could solve this by going pro. Morman could solve this by going to prep school. If neither of these happens, someone on the current roster will have to go that we weren't expecting. Which guys would even make a little bit of sense? Gaines? Guyn? JDIII? I don't pretend to know. As it has been stated on here before, these things usually work themselves out. I don't have a bet on who would leave if SK and Morman are on the roster next season.

I still don't understand why people are counting out Morman and KJ for getting huge minutes at the 1 2 and 3 spots. People want to assume Caupain is the best incoming gaurd but from all the video I have seen talent wise Morman and KJ have just as much of a shot to get tons of minutes if not more in my opinion. Don't forget Morman stands at 6'4" won his teams dunk competition that has Demetrius Henry on the team. Not saying a dunk comp makes you a great player but he is extremely athletic and a very well rounded player. On other notes if someone has to leave for next year to free a spot I think the one person who slows us down and doesn't fit the mold of our team its Saunders hands down. He does some good things here and there but lacks athleticism speed stamina quickness. To me he is not as talented as any of the new gaurds coming in.

People aren't forgetting about those guys. Everyone is talking about Caupain because we are lacking a point guard next year and Johnson and Morman are supposed to be more of 2 guards.

It is difficult to argue with your Sanders assessment, but he can at least spot up and shoot. If SK left, I shudder to think about who is going to score next year.

Bottomline, it looks like one of the current sophomores could be leaving and none of them would surprise (or terribly upset) me.

Saunders is the next best shooter on the team behind SK and Cash, maybe JDIII, I think KJ and Morman are going to be key contributors, I just think caupain will be moved to a pg, where next year that will by far be our weakest positon so he has the most chance to play. Morman can play pg, sg, or SF so he should see a lot of minutes if he qualify's but if he is going to play sf he has his work cut out for him because Rubles, Lawrence, Shaquille thomas are all very very very good players, and if SK plays next year you have to think Saunders is the first man off the bench to replace SK, and if SK leaves to go pro Saunders will start at SG, he's just getting used to playing in big games and he's an extremely hard worker. Before Lawrence was signed, I was most pumped about us signing morman, I love his game and how athletic he is, I can't wait until all of them are seniors, they are going to have the same feel to them as this years three guard offense. To me Gaines is the person who has to go, if not him than Strickland. I hate to say it, but if SK doesn't go pro and morman qualifies to play. Gaines just is way too timid out there, he is an explosive player and extremely athletic, but he just doesn't play that way out on the court. I feel terrible that we will have to get rid of one of these guys, but in the end of the day its a way better situation to be in then we were in 7 years ago..........
