'13 NY PF Jermaine Lawrence (Commit)

Help Support BearcatTalk:

I thought his whole attack against the handler was uncalled for but he has done nothing wrong in this instance. He simply stated what Jermaine stats were in his first game since committing to the bearcats.

I would be extremely shocked if any of the current players were to leave the program. All could be key components to next years squad.

They would have to release them from their national letter of intent and he would go back to being a verbal commit. The prospect then would be eligible to sign with whomever he chose as he would not be bound by any contract with UC.

All of this would be moot if SK went pro.
i would like to put a little of my input on these subjects. First off kj is a very good basketball player and an extreme athlete. Ohio and new jersey and new york are i think the best high school basketball players in the usa. As for caupain a lot of people are putting to much expectations on him. His stats are inflated with cosby. His stats for team loaded are more what he will be able to produce. I think caupain will be solid but cant drive by everyone in college. Will need a consistent jumpshot to become a very good college player. As for strickland i see a jermaine tate type of stats out of him. I think morman will be the best player in the class and even better than lawrence at first. I would rank the recruits as followed.1-morman 2-lawrence. 3-kj 4-caupain and lastly strickland.. All in all a excellent class cronin is bringing in.. Depending on sk leaving and if eppensteiner is on a scholly and morman qaulifying it will work out

I will go ahead and say you're nuts for saying Morman is better than Lawrence, and I've never seen either play. Where on earth are you getting this from? Personal opinion? Does he go to your High School or something?

I think Morman being better than Lawrence is a little bold (although I think he is saying he'll make more of an immediate impact and maybe so), but I do think Morman is a great get for UC. This is only based on clips I've seen online and articles I've read, but he looks/sounds like a player that will thrive in Cronin's system. I was very excited when I heard UC signed him and expect big things. Almost as excited as I was about Lawrence.

I think saying Morman will have a bigger immediate impact than Lawrence is going out on a huge limb. There is a reason Jermaine is ranked the 19th best prospect in the country. He also plays a position where the depth chart is much slimmer than the one Morman will be plugged into. If you assume Morman will play the 2-3 spots he will have SK, JDIII, Titus, Sanders, and Shaq to compete with for minutes. Lawrence will have Justin and Big Dave and that's about it. Lawrence's talent and competition for minutes just makes him an easy choice in terms of who will make the most impact as a freshmen.

I'm not saying Mormon will be better than Lawrence or anyone else, but I do believe he is the dark horse in this class. I have watched a lot of video of him and like I said he reminds me of a better shooting Dion Dixon. I really like the kid but I'm excited about Lawrence, especially year 2 and up, Caupain, Johnson and seeing what Strickland may become as well.

im not saying who is the better player but big men have more adjusting to do than guards. Jermaine will be counted on to be a stud from day one.where morman can relax a little. Rivals and espn rankings are based on potential... So is the nba draft. I love both these guys but thinking that jermaine will be our savior isnt fair. U can tell a little by tapes on how a player is. If all they do is dunk and layups thats fine. But with morman hes hitting threes and mid range jumpers and driving and dunking like crazy. But in the end no one knows.

If in the end no one knows, then how can you make an assertion that you think Morman will have a bigger initial impact than Lawrence? Watching a few highlight tapes will tell you little about how much a recruit will contribute once he gets here. Lawrence was Cronin's top priority in this recruiting class, not Morman. That, and the fact that he is a consensus 5 star recruit, tells me he will have a bigger impact next year than Morman. BTW, as related to your initial post, Epps scholarship status has no impact on whether the scholarship glut works out or not.

because thinking is different than knowing?

because its my fu%kn opinion that morman will make a more immediate impact. If he doesnt then ok. This site is awesome but sometimes when someone has an opinion then everyone goes to the well theres no way thats true. No one knows is right but its my opinion. As for eppensteiner he is on scholarship and i think hes a senior. Problem solved with the scholarship dilemma.

Eppensteiner was not on scholarship but Cronin decided to give him a scholarship for his final semester as a Bearcat. Either way who cares somehow everyone will be there next year or we will lose the weakest link. I think if we have to lose someone I have no problem with trusting Cronin on dealing with getting rid of the weakest player on the team that's what they pay him to do. Not us sit here and act like we know. For all any of us know there is absolutely no scholarship problem at all and all this annoying talk of someone leaving or having to go prep or whatever is for absolutely no reason! Give it up we will be fine we have a great class and if someone has to go Coach will take care of business. And please stop hoping for Morman to somehow not be eligible are you kidding me the kid COULD be our best recruit we picked up I'd rather lose a seat warmer on the team now then a possible future star! So much negativity and putting these kids down they all have the possibility of being great!

Whether eppensteiner is on scholarship or not, they have will have 4 open slots for next year, with 5 recruits offered. So problem is not solved with the scholarship dilemma, genius. And opinions are like a$$holes, everyone has one. Try and base it on something factual, not just because 'that's what I think.' Looking at a few highlights and then saying that Morman is going to make more of an impact that a consensus 5 star is idiotic. I can easily say that I think that Kevin Johnson will make more of an impact than Lawrence, but without anything to base this on, it just makes me look stupid.
