Four star center, Cats have offered.

Even though he had a fine outing on a personal level, four-star junior power forward Ben Bentil didn't like the feel of a loss to Jordan and Vaux. Still, there was plenty positive to find in the St. Andrew's standout's 28-point outing.

A well-built kid who runs extremely well, Bentil is quick and decisive in everything that he does. There's no hesitation when he decides to make a play, and it usually involves him going strong to the rim. He gets off the floor quickly and is very good about going strong to the rim with two hands for scores and jams. He's equally good about going up to secure rebounds at their highest point with two hands.

When he can't get a rebound, he's good about tapping it to keep the ball alive for his team, he can make medium-range jumpers and he's got great feet. At 6-feet-8 and 225 pounds, Bentil is perhaps America's most imposing forward on the soccer field, and he can thank his time on the pitch for his footwork.

"I feel like the footwork helps me," Bentil said. "I played soccer before basketball, and it's been good for me."

In the past, Bentil has reported offers from the likes of Cincinnati, La Salle, Penn State, Providence, Rutgers, Seton Hall, St. Joseph's, Temple, Villanova and others with interest from N.C. State, Texas, Notre Dame and many others. For now, though, Bentil indicated that he's not worrying at all about schools and declined to name any favorites or programs that stand out at the moment.

St. Joe's did dispatch head coach Phil Martelli and an assistant to watch him play on Sunday. Also spotted in the crowd were assistants from Syracuse, Rutgers, Delaware, Drexel and St. John's.

In the dictionary of college basketball, a picture of Ben Bentil would be next to "power forward". Prototypical 4. Athletic. Can really run.

2014 WE-R1 (DE) duo Ben Bentil & Austin Tilghman took unofficial visits to Quinnipiac & Fairfield today.

I know you like him Jack, given your druthers, who would you take first? Bentil or Moore? They are my 1 and 1A at the 4 with Moore getting the edge for me.

They both fit what UC is looking for but if I had to choose one I would go with Moore. He has a better all around game and his body transformation really has impressed me. That shows a guy who is willing to work. As a big man it takes longer to develop than a lot of guards and you have to be willing to put in the time to get better. All signs show that he is willing to do that. That's a good indication for his future. Think it would be a big get for the bearcats. Bentil is no slouch either. Game is becoming very polished and is a true big. Would be ecstatic to be able to reel in either of them.

Bentil still developing on the hardwood

Bentil is still learning the game. (247 Sports)
Four years ago, top-60 power forward Ben Bentil wasn't even playing basketball. The 6-foot-8, 230-pound physical specimen was dominating on another court: volleyball.

Now, Bentil has emerged as a four-star prospect out of St. Andrew's (Del.) and is only getting better.

“It's a new sport to me,” Bentil said. “I just wanted experience. Learn. Get more new moves, get to play with the best players in the country.”

He said he doesn't pay too much attention to his recruitment, choosing to focus instead on his education. With that said, Bentil did say he wants to take trips to UCLA and Georgetown.

He has his main decision criteria mapped out already.

“First of all, my education,” Bentil said. “Somewhere that's going to let me play. Somewhere I won't get restricted, kind of like enclosed in a cave. I just want to be free, play, and I like to win.”

2014 power forward Ben Bentil of WE R1 (DE) - After not getting much attention this spring, Bentil will be back playing on the Under Armour circuit, and at Reebok Breakout Camp this July after a strong performance at NBPA Top 100 camp. His game remains the same, and his ranking dropped due to his spring. Now at No. 74, he has some room to make up and a chip on his back. The four-star recruit is hearing from Georgetown, UCLA, Kansas State, Notre Dame and Marquette the most. With Mikal Bridges to Villanova, that likely takes them out of contention for Bentil, who is still not set on a school just yet, but could be ready once the July Live Period ends.
