the game has changed but kids practice fundamentals 10x more than they did 30yrs ago. Its probably 1000 youtube videos of kids working out. You have schools just for BASKETBALL now fundamentals are being taught just probably different fundamentals of what your use too.
i can except the fact they have much more access. The thing that hurts them is the video game craze. In my day we actually played the game. That said, I think the number of kids involved is greater today but I'm not sure the quality is as good.

agree with Bulldog01 fundamentals have changed---50 years ago instead of dunks and crossover dribbles I work on chest passes and hookshots from near the top of the key
In my day the most lethal shot in the game was Kareem's sky hook. Not being a Laker fan I hated when he set up down low and got the ball. He was automatic with either hand.really don't see much of that in today's game.

I'll rather you dunk than sky hook. Just my preference though

the comment was don't practice ENOUGH. It also is a personal observation. How about you,any stats to support your claim? I also don't post comments to be right or wrong. I actually enjoy the exchange of different perspectives. Also with the advancements in science and other fields it would be very foolish to assume everything in the old days was better. Is being proven in error on a public chat site a big concern of yours? If you think my observation incorrect it's alright. I'm sure I'll survive. I'm sure you don't mean to come off as a young know it all.

I don't need to show you anything bc you're the one who made the initial ridiculous, baseless claim. Why should I waste my time researching your poorly conceived observations to see if they pan out? You have no idea what you're saying. Move your posts on fundamentals to a new thread and go preach your nonsense there. This thread is supposed to be about Farad Cobb, so that's what the rest of my posts will be about.

the dunk is certainly the higher percentage shot but it is tougher to get against the defense. When considering all this it has to be factored in the game was different years ago. Especially the college game. The 3 point shot and installing the shot clock really changed how the game was played. It certainly elevated the pace of the game. Most dunks come off of fast break opportunities. You get some put back dunks but I would foul before giving up a dunk. Especially the way bigs shoot FT's now days.

I never indicated you need to show me anything. Why does my observation have to be ridiculous? It's a opinion. If you don't like my post don't read them. I'll post where and when I want. Forgive me if I'm not impressed with your keyboard muscles. Have a good evening.

Cant believe there isn't more interest in this kid in HS he averaged 28.3 pts 7.4 Ass 3.2 Steals 6.3 Reb. Sounds like he put up good numbers at the next level and def had good games against some high level D1 programs. He is exactly what we need someone who can shoot lights out and can create their own shot. He also is a great passer and handles the rock better than probably anyone on our current roster. Hope he has a great visit. The more video I watched the more impressed I am.

Does every thread have to turn into a pointless argument!?
Lets please move on.
alright by me. Was really not trying to start argument. I think If you read the post you'll come to that conclusion as well. Either way I don't want to offend anyone.

Mick certainly likes his combo guards.

Whats not to like! If we can grab Farad and another guard with some more size and lenght to him who can shoot too we are set!

It is because he did not dunk! I was only joking, thinking the same thing why more schools, high school and now are not on him????

Its crazy his numbers are great hs and juco maybe hasn't had the right people marketing him who knows. Either way if we get him and he turns out to be a monster for us I will have no complaints on him being so under the radar! I say sign him up.

SIZE and the fact that he not probably the most athletic. He looks pretty quick and plays smart so grades shouldn't been issue. Main reason though probably is size. Looking at his videos I have him starting over TC as of right now and I'm a HUGE TC fan. Plays with the swagger and toughness I like. I don't see him being timid around other players on his level.

His 2012 Source Hoops page says he had interest from UCF, Florida St, Miami, and Richmond when he was coming out of high school. Also, ESPN had him as the #38 PG out of high school. He also made an appearance in the MaxPreps Top 100 for 2012, but didn't make the final list. Made 1st team All-Conference this year and All-Region. I'm glad we had him on campus today.

Uhh he is smaller than Troy. Troy just played major minutes at the high D1 level and did so with great effectiveness. This guy got kicked off his team and spent the year at a Juco. Long way to go before he even thinks about taking Troy's spot.

so based on watching youtube videos you have deduced that 1) he has good grades (no idea how or why you can possibly make this assertion or conclusion) and 2) that he will start over not only Caupain, but Guyn who started all 34 games this year? how on earth do you possibly make these conclusions based on a juco highlight video? you have not seen him play one time in person, haven't seen him in practice against the current team, know his only other current suitor is San Francisco in a market where supply is low and teams make reaches for guys based on that said supply....yet he has no other high major suitors that we know of.....and he is already a starter in your book?
