Cincinnati, Gonzaga and Loyola Marymount will be in tonight to see DeVaughn Purcell (6-5/G/2014) of Eastern Oklahoma St.

Welp, the kid looks really athletic and I think he can dunk..LOL.

They've got a similar guy in Morman, but UC does need another guard IMO.

It seems that we have cooled off with torian, and this guy could be his replacement. Mick seems to like the juco guys especially with a guy like sk graduating he may be looking for an experienced scorer to come in next year. I did notice we have not offered yet, but we were in to watch today as jack originally mentioned so we may offer soon. His 6-5 frame and freak athletism gives us options on how to use him. Don't know how much we are going for him but seems like a good player or at least a good dunker. Our recruiting lately has been hot and cold and I keep waiting for a surprise comitment as we seem to have solid relationships with a number of recruits. Anyone know how involved we are with this guy? If not who is our top target it's to hard for me to tell

To state the obvious this kid has world class athletic ability. This and his length and size can lend to him to being a great defender and great rebounder at the two spot occasionally the three. He has a great stroke but plants his feet awkwardly when shooting a three idk of anyone else noticed that, but great follow through. I'd be willing to take a flyer on this kid for two years. Looks like he has the energy to be a bearcat for sure!

They need another PG, not another guard that have average ball skills. The lack of good ball handling from UC's guards really hurts this team.

He is very similar to Morman. And remember Morman is the reason that we backed off of Terrell. So why did we back off like Terrell if we are going to recruit a similar player?

The coaches show two weeks ago Mick was asked about recruiting and stating that he looks at kids from good parents, not trouble etc.. He also went on to say that if a kid didn't want to play defense or demanded playing time he would stop recruiting him, this may be one of those cases.

Yeah, he looks like he has a little bit better mechanics than Morman does when it comes to his shot. Same tough, gritty style though, you are right.

He is 6'5 and Morman might be 6'2. I'll take something at this point. LOL
FYI Morman is at least 6'4"....but would love to take him kid looks like a freak athlete can score exciting to watch and adds experience great size. Looks like a Bearcat to me.

You don't know what is going to happen with kids these days. It can't hurt to have players like this kid. You don't stop recruiting because you have a player at a position who MIGHT be good. You have to have bodies and a kid who seems to be able to shoot it, can rebound, hit free throws and has good hops, I think you take a shot on.

You can teach a kid to be an athlete (they can improve though) and you can't force them to grow. I like the sounds of this kid.

would not be surprised of deshaun morman started at sg next, he's going to be really good, no doubt in my mind he's going to get some serious minutes next year.

Not sure if he will start, but the staff thought enough of him to stop recruiting Jared Terrell once he became eligible. Morman is spending his redshirt year just as SK did, and is engaged on the bench just as SK was. I can still remember SK being the first guy off the bench congratulating the guys during the BE tourney in MSG at the end of his redshirt year. DM is always cheering on the guys and is one of the first off the bench at a timeout. If you watch him in warmups he has a nice stroke, and is already being touted for his toughness and defense. He will be big part of the Bearcats success in the next 4 years.

stop it guys...its too early for me to be excited about next year

I think it's important to remember that after we backed off Terrell we lost Davis, which opened the door for another player at that position to be brought in.

I'll take a Dion Dixon career from him. Similar size, similar athleticism, similar lack of perimeter shooting (though Dion became a solid mid range shooter). Dixon dropped over 1200 points, not a bad guy to emulate.

agree NTS. I think Mormon will have a positive effect on next years squad. That said I really hope we find a knock down lights out shooter.it just does so much to open up the rest of the floor.
