If you follow Chad on Twitter you'd know he is legit. I'd listen to him over just about anyone. If you want opinions and speculation from people who aren't in the business, fine, but if you want the inside scoop, hear him out.

Nobody is 100% on recruiting but I follow this stuff pretty closely and though yes he can come across as a jerk at times and thinks he is the sole fountain of info, Chad is pretty good at his craft. He is worth listening to but could certainly help himself and his site with some humbleness.

That said Grantham will be a UC commit imo. He is an average shooter from mid range and needs to improve long range consistency. But he's a very good ft shooter and rebounder and could be a special defensive player if he applies himself to it.

I agree 100%. I don't follow Chad on twitter nor do I pay for his site but if he is going to post some info here, I will pay attention to it.

If we do, in fact, land Grantham it will be interesting to see if we can get just one of our 2013 or 2014 recruits to excel at PG, C, or knock down shooter. If we can get just one of those things to happen...our next class would be easy to target by filling the other two needs. Some people seem pretty high on Caupain, not hearing too much about Strickland right now, and haven't heard that anyone is currently a knock down shooter.

Even if we had to fill all three I think we would do it...even if it forces a current player to reconsider his playing time and if it might be better to transfer such as Gaines did...even though we would rather it not happen that way.

Has Donte said anything about when he might make a decision? And if he hasnt does anyone think he will wait until spring to decide or make it before nov. 13?

Would be shocked if the decision pushes out to the spring. Two horse race between UC and UM. Has been to both campuses, now all that is left is to make a decision. Only way I see him pushing it out is if he is not sold on either of those schools and wants to take a chance of improving his stock more over the winter and see what other offers he may get. Still think the decision comes within the next couple of weeks.

An upgrade to our outside shooting is a must. It's hard to believe that we can't seem to get any knock-down shooters. I like Kilpatrick, but I don't consider him to be the kind of consistent shooter that we need. I love our recent recruits, but it's time to focus on shooters now.

From Chad's free article on the Gary Clark verbal:

Clark was joined on his visit by 4 star combo forward Donte Grantham, and with his decision out of the way he hopes to add one more piece to the Cincinnati class of 2014.

“We talked a lot while we were up there,” Clark said. “I'm pretty sure he'll probably come. I didn't really ask him, but I know he liked it and his mom really liked it compared to the last visit he went on. I'm pretty confident that we can get him too.”

If its between us and UM I think we have the better chance from some of the quotes ive been reading. Plus if its true the kids mom liked his visit here more than UM I also see that as an advantage. Also on the 247 site I was looking at Granthams profile and for what its worth they have him "crystal balled" going to UC at 100%

Does anyone know if Coach Jackson is recruiting Grantham? I would assume so based off his DC Assault connections, but I haven't seen it anywhere. If so, it would be pretty neat for each of our assistants to land a priority recruit over a span of a couple weeks, assuming Grantham comes. Have to imagine this would give the staff a lot of confidence and momentum heading into '15 recruiting.

Scouting Video & Evaluation: Donte Grantham
By Dylan Burkhardt | Recruits | Posted on September 20, 2013 at 9:15 am

Donte Grantham is widely reported to be nearing a decision after taking official visits to Clemson, Michigan and Cincinnati within the last month. While the Michigan coaching staff tracked Grantham throughout July, we didn’t have a chance to see him in person over the summer. However, we did come across some game footage from this July in Milwaukee and put together a scouting video and detailed written report. Watch the video below and find the full scouting report after the jump.

Strengths: Grantham has a solid frame at 6-foot-8 and 200 pounds but he’ll likely add a bit more muscle to his upper body to play combo forward at the next level. He’s a plus athlete but what stands out is his motor. He plays hard on both ends of the floor and there’s little wasted motion in his game. He makes hustle plays, gets after loose balls and defends but he never looks out of control. He demonstrated good rebounding ability outside of his area on both ends of the floor against quality competition.

He’s not a high usage offensive player but he makes things happen whenever he has the opportunity. Grantham is more than capable of putting the ball on the floor for straight line drives to the basket. His above average athleticism takes over and he’s able to draw fouls with ease and finish through contact. He also showed off a bit of a back-to-the-basket offensive game as well, remnant of how he had to score at the high school level.

While his athleticism and motor stands out, he’s also very capable of making the smart play offensively. He has good vision, ball skills and looks to make the right pass as in halfcourt and fullcourt offensive situations.

Weaknesses: Grantham didn’t show off a lot of his jump shot and that will be the biggest question he has to answer at the next level. The concept of a “three-and-D” player – athleticism to guard opposing wings with a reliable three point stroke – is common in the NBA and Grantham will aspire to be that sort of player eventually. Although he didn’t show off a lot of his jump shot, he did appear to have a somewhat reliable free throw stroke despite an awkward lean forward which provides some promise.

At this point in time, Grantham is still a tweener. He doesn’t look quite big enough to guard college fours and probably doesn’t have the entire offensive skillset that Michigan would hope to see from a legitimate wing forward.

Overall: Grantham is the sort of player you need on a winning team. Right now he’d be a combo forward at Michigan but he would bring the sort of attitude that Michigan wants at that position. He appears more than willing to battle larger players down low or play out on the perimeter. He’s also the type of player that you would want to slot next to more finesse wings like Nik Stauskas and Zak Irvin. The Wolverines have shooting ability on the wings but Grantham would add an element of athleticism and toughness to the lineup whether he plays the four or three position.

This post confuses me. It sounds like it is written as if Grantham had already committed to Michigan?

He has not committed. In the first paragraph it states he has visited Clemson, UC, and Michigan and is nearing a decision. They are stating what the analysis would be if he did commit to the wolverines.

Hearing good things about Cincinnati visit and bad about Michigan as well Jack. I think he ends up at Cincinnati but not in the next 2 weeks. I think Clark will help pull him in.
