"They say I am coming in and playing as a freshman. That was real big. I was excited when they told me that. They like that I can come in and play and distribute the ball, and I think I can keep helping them win a lot of games from day one." -Justin Jenifer

Sounds like the plan is for him to replace Guyn and not redshirt.

OK, didn't know it was 2. That's makes Cobb even more valuable. Not only is the highest college scorer on team, he's also leading ast man we have. I thought TC had more ast than he did. I believe this group of guards are still best fundamental sound group we've had under Mick.

I don't know about all this. First off, Cobb's PPG at a junior college don't really compare to our guys playing in the NCAA. Not fair to say "he's the highest scorer on our team" because of juco stats. Also, I think the "best guards" comment is a bit premature. No offense to our group now, but I'll take the '11-'12 group that took us to the sweet sixteen.

I think thats always the plan until practices start and Mick sees a number of things. Defensive ability, understanding the offense, strength, and if he benefits at all from the actual redshirt in terms of playing time and can he help the team now more than 1-2 years down the road. Just my take.

FUNDAMENTALLY "best guards". 11-12 group couldn't run fast breaks or make entry pass outside of Cash. It took SK 5 years just to become an OK ball handler. Were getting better recruits and players every year as we climb back up charts. Its nothing against none of the other guards that played here, I just believe fundamentally this is best group I've seen.

How can you know that at this point? And when did you see this group? That other group went to the Sweet 16. This group doesn't have a single player who has scored over 15 points in a game in a Bearcat uniform in their career.

This right here tells you all you need to know and what I've been saying all along Cobb will be playing the 2 spot and Caupain and Jenifer will be pg's.

Morman might see more playing time at PG than Cobb. Both are combo guards, but Morman is the second best passer on the team behind Caupain. Mick wants to play Cobb similar to Russ and Boatwright, but we'll have to see just how effective Cobb will be.

A little OT, but it looks like a 3 guard offense is in store at UC in the future.

Best UC guards on one team of the Huggins / Cronin era:
Van Exel
Buford
AD Jackson
Terrance Gibson

That was the best pressing team I've ever seen.

Guyn was part of the worst UC recruiting class since some of those immediately post Huggins.

This year will decide that for sure. With Ellis back four of them (Shaq, Guyn, Sanders, Ellis) are still here, only JDIII is gone. I really expect major improvement from Sanders and hopefully Thomas. Guyn has some health issues and I have no idea what to expect from Ellis. This class still has a chance to redeem itself.

The 11-12 group was outstanding, beside Cash, Kilpatrick, Dixon and especially Parker gave us the best group since the Van Exel years. And they were as tough a bunch of defensive guards as we have ever had.

Fundamentally!!! Not overall game. Passing, dribbling, quickness, footwork, etc. The only real ball handler from 11-12 is Cash. You can tell fundamental players in middle school. Not saying any of our guards would be better than any previous guards.

Replacing Guyn with Jenifer should only help all that stuff too!

Satterfield, Stokes, Logan, DeMarr were better than Cash, Sk, Dixon, Parker by far. I wouldn't take this year SK over any of those guys.
