Rumors have swirled that Tennessee leads in Izundu's recruitment because new Volunteers coach Rick Barnes hired former Charlotte assistant Desmond Oliver.

McCain wants the world to know that Tennessee has no advantage over any other school.

McCain is looking at a long list of schools including interest from Arkansas, UK, Miami (Fla.) and Connecticut, along with Tennessee and several other schools. And one important thing for Izundu is the ability to play in the NCAA Tournament.

"(Tennessee) wouldn't be the favorite and I want everyone to know that," McCain said. "You have Arkansas and Kentucky, they were one and two in the conference last year. Realistically if Arkansas is recruiting me and I can go to a place that's second=place in the conference, why not go there? I'm all with rebuilding but if I can rebuild with a place that's second in the conference, absolutely I'd do that first. We're all about the relationships and where he's going to learn and grow.

"I tell him that I don't want him in a situation where he has to build up until his junior year and then make it to the tournament his senior year. No I want him to experience that every year he's in college. If Arkansas, Miami, UConn, and Cincinnati are the place to go for that, that's what he'll consider. And Tennessee isn't out of the race, but I don't want that to be the deciding factor that everybody thinks because that coach recruited him he has a one-up on everybody; Tennessee does not have a one-up on everybody, you can quote me on that. It's wide open."

From his aau coach mouth. Can't really believe it though because when last time Charlotte was in tournament?

You have a link to these quotes? I haven't seen them anywhere else and I am struggling to bring it up on Google.

Norm Roberts is making the trip to Victory Christian HS in Charloette, N.C., today to get a look at 2015 big man Ebuka Izundu. #Kubball

That is interesting. Also could be a bit telling that he's apparently planning on playing with his travel team in Atlanta this weekend instead of visiting Tennessee (according to the Tennessee forum, they expected him to visit this weekend for their football spring game). If it truly is the tournament that he's after, that's good news for us, especially with us already getting a visit. With the new schools trying to get involved, hopefully the staff's early work from before his first commitment to Charlotte helps pay off. Would be tough to fight off UK and Kansas if they offer, but our tournament streak, early recruitment, and recent official visit should put us in a good position against Arkansas, Miami, maybe UConn, etc.

everybody on there calling him lock for us and that were final four team

I just can't imagine he'd get a lot of playing time at a school like UK or Kansas. He'd have to REALLY impress to not be a 4-year backup at UK.

I don't want to call him 3-4yr starter here either. It a be nice but I still want to upgrade talent every year.

Got it off Tennessee board.

Ok now I see it, it didn't come up because it was behind a paywall for a Kentucky site.

I want Izundu bad, I think a bunch of the big player dominoes are going to commit this week, Diallo seems imminent and with Izundu's visit to UT this weekend. I could see him committing wherever next week.

Recruiting is all about relationships and I find it hard for KU and UK to build anything in that short amount of time.

Also LD is leading on him and we know all of the players love him. I imagine Izundu feels the same way.

It would be sweet to land a class with 5 guys who can fill the 1-5 spots.

Izundu, Scott, Evans, ?, Jenifer

Do you have a link to this Tennessee board?
