19 ap top 25

Respect...btw top 2 teams in the ACC are former Big East teams. Number one team in new Big East, Villanaova (old BE) tied with Creighton. Top team in AAC is UC (old BE) and UL (old BE) tied for 2nd.
 
Good to see the trio of #17 Louisville, #18 Memphis and #19 Cincinnati in consecutive spots. Too bad the three will only be together in one year.
 
I love the ranking. I hope UC keeps playing with a chip and stays aggressive. I hope we can keep this ranking so our younger guys know what its like to play as a top 25 team.

In just a couple weeks we went from what...no votes to 19th? That's about as big of a jump as anyone could hope for.

This just means games are going to get tougher so we have to stay focused and control the effort on D. No looking forward...we earned our spot with effort...let's not bounce back out with a silly loss to a team we shouldn't lose to.

Anything is possible...but if you asked me after the X game our chances of being ranked 19 right now??? I would have probably laughed. When we added that second dimension to our team it completely changed our potential.

Fantastic job by the team, Cronin, and especially JJ for stepping up to give us that second dimension. Now it's time for the fans and university to step up and fully support this team to get us to the next level.

Being ranked is fodder for opposing coaches. I wish we kept playing well but remained just out of the Top 25. If I'm the opposing coach trying to motivate my team, I'm emphasizing slaying the giant. Also, congrats to the team for making it there. You've grown a lot in a short time. Don't let it go to your head. Notice how many ranked teams got their butts kicked last week. Stay focused.

I realize that. I was talking strictly from a coach's psychological standpoint.
Optimally, I would like to be #1 and undefeated, and tell all the others to "come and get me". And eventually somebody would (unless you were UCLA from the Wooden era, or Bobby Knights Indiana, or North Carolina, or USF - Bill Russell era).

Someone may have mentioned this already, but it also gets you n the highlight shows so it keeps your name on the SportsCenters of the world.

Yeah, I always find it funny when a team that's just outside of the top 25 is playing really well but doesn't even get a mention on Sportscenter. But they crack into the top 25 and all of a sudden you get a full highlight reel even if it's a ho-hum game against a bad opponent. As if they are so much better now than they were last week because of the number next to their name.
 
With Kentucky and OSU losing this week, we have a real shot to be the highest-ranked team in the tri-state area. Still need to get around Louisville, but we're right there.
 
I'm extremely happy that this team has managed to claw it's way to a top 20 ranking. That said, do you think they have the talent to make a deep run in the tourney? I know anything is possible once your dancing (and I give Mick props for putting his teams in position to at least have a shot). But sometimes I sit back and wonder if I will ever have the opportunity to witness a national championship in my lifetime. My heart says maybe but my brain says otherwise. Watching UC win just 1 national championship in my lifetime (I'm 40 by the way) would be the pinacle moment in my career as a sports fan. It's so hard to stay optimistic when you root for any Cincinnati team!

I would say in a perfect world 3 years from now would be our best chance
