2-21 Polls

Haha yes!! Finally a poll with some true reasoning. The people who make up that poll might be the smartest people alive ;)

I think the general belief is that Cincy's results are much better than the actual team. Whether you agree with that or not, I expect the selection committee (which bases things much more on black and white results than who is "good") will treat the Bearcats much more favorably than the pollsters. The resume is strong enough to overcome their biases.

To put in more concrete terms, if Cincy goes 2-2 to close it out they may still not get any votes, but they will have a resume to warrant about a 6 seed in the tournament. Better than some of the ranked teams will receive. Because of that, I'm not that worried about the polls.

Could not agree any more with you! That is a good logical way to see things. Especially if we go 2-2 you would like to think we will win at least 1 tourney game too...things would look mighty fine.

2-2 would be huge IMO. I think we are in great shape with 1 win and a BE tourney win.

My only shock about the polls is that Mich State still isnt in them ;)

I agree. But I do think we are in regardless now IMO. All of our games now are against quality teams so there isnt a chance for a bad loss.

No kidding, I love how they are still considering them as an at-large bid. If you look at their last 12 games, it is not very pretty. They should be a little better than .500 in the Big Ten.

I get really excited thinking about getting into the NCCA tourney and actually playing well in it. There aren't too many teams outside of the BE that could dominate UC. Almost any match-up in the 1st and 2nd round would be winnable. But I do not want to get too far ahead so I'll just stop there. ha

I'm as optimistic as anyone about our chances and my posts reflect that, but don't forget the 1st round of the BET could be a really weak opponent. IF (I don't think it will happen) the Bearcats lose the next 4, losing to a South Florida or Depaul in round 1 could be a pretty big problem.

Lets think positive though. Look at what COULD happen if they keep playing the way they are. They could get a few more big wins the next 2 weeks, get a BET win or two, and be favored to win round 1 of the NCAA tourney. That should get you excited IMO.

Lets hope we win 2 more and finish in at least 8th place in the BEAST. That will give us a bye and a less likely chance of losing to a crappy team in our first game. As it looks now, I would not want to play Depaul in round 1 of the BET, I think it is a lose and MAJOR LOSE situation for us. I would rather finish in 10th than 9th and play South Florida instead.

I agree completely. Depaul is playing good ball right now and Cleveland Melvin is a tough matchup for us.

Agreed. Good post. Well explained. Polls suck...unless we're #1.

Yes. He has torched us twice.

DePaul almost beat us, did beat Providence and took Nova to OT (Fisher made a crazy shot to force OT...otherwise, DePaul wins).

A finish in the top 8 would be HUGE. It would guarantee us an NCAA bid, IMO.

Of 4 games left:

2 wins = Dancing!!!!
1 win = firmly on bubble, likely the right side.
0 wins = better win 2 in the BET.

I am not upset about not being in the polls conversation but I was a little disappointed with the lack of being recognized. Maybe its been accumulating all year and this is setting those feelings off. I do realize our non conf. play was not the greatest but it wasn't terrible. It shouldn't be UC's fault some of those teams are not doing as well as most years. I know a lot of people won't like Cronin saying this but it does address how I felt this afternoon perfectly.

Yeah I have felt that way too. More importantly, Mick coming out and saying this gives him another tool to keep this team grounded and working hard. They play their best basketball when they feel disrespected. People might not like Mick saying it publicly but it gets the team talked about going into the tournament. It's never too early to start lobbying. Hopefully the team backs it up with their play.

Yeah I agree. Its funny reading the bashing comments people are already saying because of this but I do like it. Least he says what he feels and what a lot of our fans probably are feeling too. I do hope it sets more fire under the players because they do deserve support and karma will always come around. If they keep playing well, they will get what they have worked for. 21-6 for this team and not getting an ounce of attention is definitely a slap in the face.

My only problem with the article was his quote in regards to himself not being highlighted in the Big East commercial. To me, it looks a little egotistical. IMO.

If you read it solely on the headline then I can see why you think that jupe but that wasn't the point of his comments. In the interview he was expressing how well Bishop has excelled this year and UC simply doesn't get recognized. The commercial was not the main point at hand.

This is not egotistical. It is a big deal. Those commercials are essentially a free recruiting plug. Mick has made a lot of progress in the NY/NJ area and he is directly competing with coaches in that commercial. It is a disadvantage to him and his staff. Out of sight, out of mind. That's not good when recruiting.

I understand his frustrations but come on man, go about your business, win a few more games and reach the NCAA Tournament. Let the rest take care of it self.
