IMO this year Thomas is going to make a big jump in playing time, scoring and being a leader. Mick will let him know its his team and take control of it and we will go as he does. I also think Sanders and Guyn will be there as leaders but not as much as Thomas.

fair enough

You think Shaq can be around 12 ppg? It makes me nervous to go as he goes, but he is the leading returning scorer and in the same year in the program as Guyn and Sanders...

Shaq will definitely average double digits this year and emerge as more of a leader. I'm not sure he will ever live up to his potential, but I think we will be pleasantly surprised with his last 2 seasons in Clifton. I think his production will be James White-esque.

I think Thomas can get 12 but in pas years there's always been go to guys and Thomas hasn't had to be that guy so he just sled under the radar but this year he is the go to guy, he is the best older player on the team he has to step up or we are in trouble, I think he rises up. Also I have him averaging 13 ppg in my calculations.

I hope you're right. It might not be his personality to be the take charge person. Maybe he's been that way since he's been surrounded by older players, but expecting him to become an alpha like leader just might not be in his makeup. A while back Huggins used to describe Leonard Stokes in the same way, very talented but too nice and too willing to defer at times.

Lenny still averaged double figures for his career and in 3 of his 4 years at UC though. This year is it for Shaq. It will define the rest of his basketball career.

Shaq will have the the highest ppg avg on the team for the next 2 years.

Thomas didn't play well enough to be that guy. Lots of holes in his game. It takes more then a occasional highlight to lead the team. Sanders,Mormon,KJ and Cobb will all push him for minutes.

IMO Thomas will play the most minutes a game out of anyone with 30-33 minutes a game.
Based on what? His defense, his rebounding, his finishing at the hoop? In 3 years in the program his improvements have been minuscule. He'll wow you with a occasional highlight but to lead a D-1 team consistency is the key. This year he will be pushed for minutes. I hope that is the kick in the tail he needs to realize a occasional dunk is not going to keep him in the line up. Last years freshman are hungry for more court time. Mormon was thought by many to be the most college ready until his injury,KJ has shown he can play at this level and score. Sanders has always gotten minutes. Cobb will play some wing. It's put up time for Shaq. A occasional high degree of difficulty lay up attempt without finishing or drawing a foul while playing non-existent defense or rebounding is old.

Just my opinion I think he steps up and leads he's never had to with older players in front of him now he is that older player and has to play like it. Again IMO I think Sanders start at the 4 and the only one backing up Thomas is Morman and like I said he will only play 10 minutes. So 30 minutes for Thomas and 10 for Morman.

Guyn/Caupain
Cobb/Johnson
Thomas/Morman
Sanders/Ellis/Clark
Deberry/Strickland/ Moore

0 minutes for Sanders at the 3? So we'll be going small every minute he is out there?

Idk why I just have this feeling Mick is going to go back to the 4 guard lineup this year it's seemed to work the year with Parker and that was the big east now we are in an easier conference so I would think it should work even better but this is all just guessing on my part.

Also if all these guards are as good as some say maybe Mick will use Thomas at the 4 when Sanders isn't in and put a smaller guard Morman or Johnson at the 3.

I can see how the small lineup could work for us if guys like Morman and Shaq can rebound. I don't think we will do that all the time though. 2 of the 5 bigs will be on the floor at the same time pretty often I bet. Especially anytime Clark is out there. I don't see why Sanders and Clark can't play together at times with another big. How many minutes do you see Sanders at? I'm saying 25 for him but no one on the team over 30 mpg.

I can see Sanders at 20-25 mpg but I also def see Thomas at 30 mpg.

I don't think Mick would have recruited all the bigs he did if he was planning on running a 4 guard offense. I do think we will see 3 guards on the floor more often this season. For what it's worth, I don't consider Sanders and Thomas to be guards, as I have seen some people bizarrely post on here.

Dude who else on the team has wowwed you to think Shaq won't score the most points for us. His shot maybe flat but he has very good touch. Your out of your mind to think he will not be the leading scorer next year.

Not to mention he is easily our best player on our full court press by a long shot.....

Shaq is useful in the press because of his length and leaping ability to run down or steal the errant pass you're trying to create. His length is also good in stepping in and helping with a trap. But what makes the full court press effective is having some tough-defending guards in there to pressure the ball to get things rolling. For that reason I think KJ will be our best weapon in the press and according to Larry Davis' comments last year, Mormon as well. When your guards create an errant pass and the guy you stick in the middle to come get the ball gets the steal that doesn't mean he created the turnover. And I think that is Thomas' main role in the press. Jackson was great at this the past couple of years. It is important to have that piece out there to be quick and long to react to the ball but I don't think it's as important as your guards that do the dirty work.
