The more I think about it...the Memphis board mentioned Justin Martin to UC 4 or 5 days ago...then 3 days ago it was announced Torian Graham would visit Houston. Even if we cant talk to Martin, could he have come to us and let us know he was interested? I mean he is in the same city and knows a lot of our players.

is there a link to where the memphis guy said he found the story? I saw the their message board where they mention it, Just not the link he was referring to

He is from Rancho Cucamonga, CA. We have never been involved, but can never hurt to give a call saying you have PT available. Seems alot of kids go the 5th year route. DeAndre Kane had no shot of being drafted last year, and now I think he was one of the better PGs in the league. I dont know his draft status, but going into a new environment could help you make the next step if the system you were playing in didnt fit your style, you want to surround yourself with better talent, or you are just tired of where you are.

I know we have been mentioned for Martin and he will be a 5th year guy too. I dont know how good Wesley is but it looks like he knows how to score. Maybe he isnt good enough to get drafted, but that doesnt mean he isnt good enough to help another team. And you never know, maybe he has no intentions to go over seas to play basketball and just wants to give his last year of playing 1 more ride and a tourny run
Looking at stats he's more than a scorer, avg 7reb. Can't remember last wing we had with those numbers. Its some pretty good transfers out there floating around.

He read it in the physical copy of the Commercial Appeal it sounds like. But the online version you have to be a subscriber to see it.

He was also suspended two games in late February for a violation of team rules. I'm not sure how serious the violation was, but it just goes to show you how you often have to look past the stats.

17 and 7 looks good on paper, but is it worth the risk to potentially mess up chemistry and a good locker room? That's what coaches get paid the big bucks for.

I understand all that but he's a senior not freshman or sophomore. Can't be that bad he's graduating and trying continue his education. I think if he was cancer his advisors would tell him just go pro.

It's real guy wasn't lieing read my post about it yesterday

Martin would be a perfect fit imo. He shoots the ball pretty well from deep, he wouldnt have to adjust to the speed of the D1 game, hes familiar with our players from reg season and summer games, and his scholarship would open right back up for a 2015 commit. All good things.

I've said this before, but it would be very weird to root for Martin when I have been rooting against him for 4 years. Has anybody ever transferred from Xavier to UC or vise versa?

Not that I know of; I'm sure Xavier fans would agree, but i would welcome a contributing transfer but would shun anyone of our players that transferred haha.

I believe in giving second chances. Sometimes teenagers do stupid things. The guy made the biggest mistake of his life and became a Musketeer. He wised up, matured and has seen the error in his ways and is leaving. If he is truly serious about righting his life in becoming a Bearcat then we should applaud him and welcome him to the promised land.

haha I love this post. Goof stuff. Who knows, he might be trying to bridge the gap of friendliness between the two fan bases. Kudos to him.

Can you accept two big mistakes??? He initially committed to Louisville before Xavier.

You may be on to something here. About a week ago Bearcat Jeff eluded to a player that had decided he wanted to become a bearcat and that the staff wanted to look at all options available. Could Martin be this player? The timing seems to match up.
