This only year I'm talking about..This satterfield freshman year and Logan sophomore year. Logan started at PG after couple games satterfield took over PG. DJ was 6'9 SG our highest rated recruit EVER no way he went to bench. Logan became 6th man and still played tons of minutes.

What this season or their ppg have anything to do with 2000?

I'm not getting into this whole thing bc honestly I just don't care. But one thing stands out...

We averaged 77.6 ppg that year. Satterfield was at 7.6 assist/40 minutes. Couldn't find Logan's minutes, but I'm guessing his 3.5 assists per game translated very well too.

We have guys with high basketball IQ and we have an experienced group. Our team AST/TO last year was 0.912 (meaning we had more TO than AST). Our opponents were actually better at 0.924. Needless to say, this needs to be well above 1 on our end. For comparison, Duke was at 1.42 last year.

This team also only played 7 guys. 3 of 7 I believe were in top 10 in fg%. Need talent to put ball in hole

I would really like to see a 3 headed monster develop by the end of the year at the 1 and 2 spots like I think we will have at the 4 and 5 spots. I would like to see maybe around 70 of the available 80 minutes go to 3 guys at the 1/2 and the 4/5.

4/5...Ellis/Clark/DeBerry (70 mins) Scott/Moore (10 mins)

1/2...Caupain/Cobb/Jenifer (70 mins) Johnson (10 mins)

3...Thomas/Evans (40 mins)

The main question mark here is whether or not Jenifer will be good enough to steal minutes from Johnson by having Caupain play off the ball when they are in together. I doubt it will happen this way but...

That would be an 8 man rotation with spot/situational minutes to 9-11.

Kj is our best on the ball defender, he plays better defense than any other guard, that will give him minutes I would say he and Cobb both get 20 mins per game and no less than 16 a piece.

It will depend on Jenifer's readiness (or KJ's improvement). Likely you are correct though.

The only place I am really OK with a defensive specialist with average to below average offensive skills (for their position) would be a human eraser on the baseline...or maybe a guy like Rubles who can guard (lock down) more than 3 positions. Even he was a liability to our offensive flow. Guards needs to have ball skills or deadly shots.

That being said I hope KJ worked hard in the off season and has improved his offensive arsenal. I really do like him a lot! I am hoping gone are the days where we recruit athletes with below average offensive skills. It seems like there has been that type of shift lately with recruiting and I'm hoping it has the desired effect.

I also like KJ's defense. I like the thought of him applying ball pressure all the way up the court, since it is a 30 second shot clock, and we will likely be falling back into the zone. With last year being his first year having a major role, he definitely had his moments. He basically saved the game at home vs South Florida, he had a great first half @Tulane, and he had a 5 or so game stretch in conference play averaging double figures. With added strength, I hope he is a little more fearless this year. He is the most underrated athlete on the team imo. And minus the slow start from the floor last year, he was a very good 3 pt shooter as well. I *hope* he is our leading bench scorer this season.

That is a big question but I don't see Jenifer, who is noted to have average to below average defense, also a point guard taking minutes from Kevin Johnson a shooting guard. Jenifer will not force Caupain off the ball for more than 5 minutes a game max. I see minutes playing out as follows:

PG: Caupain - 30, Jenifer - 7 and Cobb 3

SG: Johnson - 21, Cobb - 19 (SALY, flip-flop depending on game situation)

SF: Shaq - 23, Evans - 12, Johnson/Cobb - 5 (3 guard line-up)

PF: Clark - 28 , Ellis- 5, Scott 5, Moore - 2 (When Deberry and him are in, I could also see Shaq playing the four in smaller and quicker line-ups depending on the opponent)

C: Ellis- 25, Deberry - 15

Just my opinion but it will be Caupain, Cobb, Shaq, Clark and Oct starting and Johnson, Deberry, Evans, Jenifer off the bench in that order.

Nice assessment on KJ. I like him on the floor too. I don't know the specific stats but he had a period in the 2nd half of the year (when they really mattered) where he shot really well. I think he lacked the ability to get to the rim last year. But he has clearly gained muscle this off season so hopefully that helps. His TO's were frustrating last year. I look forward to seeing him on the floor this year.
