Most people say this is the most talented roster that Cronin has ever had here as the head coach.

True or not, I'm interested to see what he can do with these players now that he's healthy and back. It's a different challenge when you have more talent than minutes to go around. Picking right players for the right moment, hot hand, chemistry all become more important.

Good news, at least if tonight is any indication (and the offseason), this entire roster is extremely focused on team success above anything else.

Yes. Even Moore and Scott didn't waste possessions and understood their roles. We have size, talent and speed to match up with any team in country.

I want Shaq to focus on becoming one of best perimeter defensive players in country. Being able to lock down anybody 1-3. We don't need Shaq to ever try create shot for himself or others ever again in games. Just lockdown the other teams best perimeter player every night would take us long way this year.

One thing is for sure, this team will be tested by their schedule early. In December UC will play: Butler, Xavier, VCU, Iowa State, and Temple. Then January starts with SMU and Tulsa. Not saying we can't handle it but that is a helluva stretch.

Wow. That's great to see. We will certainly be battle tested.

IS VCU expected to be good this season? I know they lost a lot, including Shaka, but will they compete in the A-10? Not to downplay that game, because going to VCU and winning won't be easy at all. Just curious.

If this team can average 14-15 assists per game and cut down on turnovers to about 10 per game I think this team could really far come tourney time.

I'll like to see 18-22 assists per game. With only 5 turnovers per game

Sure, but that's completely unrealistic not just for UC, but any college team.

Here is what the two teams in the NCAA Championship averaged last season.

Duke: 15 asts/gm 11 to/gm
Wisconsin: 14 asts/gm 7 to/gm

If we score 70+ a game I'll like half points off assists. I like every possession to count.

Exhibition season over. We averaged 87 ppg. Now we have 5 games we should easily win before we head to Brooklyn for the Barclay's Center Classic. I like that we have a true road game @Bowling Green in this middle of this opening 5 game stretch. No reason we shouldn't continue to see what we have up to this point. Can't wait for Friday night!

Crazy thing is. I think we could've scored more both games. Only problem I have is rebounding. Can't give teams extra possessions

By position pts per game for top 2 scorers

2...27 ppg

3...22.5 ppg

1...16.5 ppg

4...11 ppg

5...8.5 ppg

The top 5 scorers were guards/wings. It will be interesting to see which bigs excel in the new offense. I think Ellis will do great.

Terry Nelson said on "Sports of All Sorts" last night with Ken Broo that Justin Jenifer will lead the AAC in assists off the bench for Cincinnati.

That a be huge. We could possibly have best backcourt in country

Don't get ahead of yourself here. We could possibly have a top ten backcourt but teams like UNC, Villanova and UK have far and away the best backcourts. Heck Wichita State has a fantastic one as well. I would say we are close if not in the top ten.

I don't envy Mick right now. Trying to keep all these guys happy with minutes is going to be a challenge. Sounds like a great problem to have.

We have seen some pretty solid play from KJ, ST, JE, FC, and TC. Those are the top 5 scorers on the team with Shaq and KJ unexpectedly at the top. If Jenifer is going to see any more than back up PG minutes he's going to have to move someone out or over (assuming Troy stays on the court with Jenifer some times) . Someone mentioned earlier we might see ST playing a few minutes as a small 4 and I am starting to believe it could happen. Ellis with 4 guards/wings.

If that is the case I could potentially see a red shirt happening at the 4 since Clark will get the lion's share there. The question would be...would we even want to red shirt.
