I'd like if Evans started too, but I'm not so sure that it would be a magical cure-all for our slow starts. That would seem to imply that us starting slow is in large part bc of Shaq. I'm not so sure he's the reason we're struggling to get out of the gate. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Mick continue to go with the 5th year guy to start conference play, and tweak our early game strategy from focusing on post ups, to focusing on getting our bigs moving and setting screens. That seemed to work for us in the VCU game. Evans will get his minutes. If it were up to me, he'd start. But knowing Mick's preferences for 10 years, I dunno if he'll make the change and I'm not going to kill him for it if he doesn't.

I'll start Evans at 2

Troy
Evans
Shaq
Clark
Debear

Make Ellis and cobb dig deep and taste some humbling pie trying get their jobs back

What does the future hold for Quadri? What's the point of bringing him back? It'd be better to use his scholarship on a JUCO bruiser.

What does future hold for jenifer? KJ and troy we see lion share of minutes next year. Cumberland by default of size will get the rest of minutes.

If he decides to transfer I understand. There is no reason for us to push him out since we aren't usually at full capacity. A big body can always come in handy...maybe the light will come on.

I doubt we will get to the point we will be looking to recruit a 14th player.

If JJ doesn't get a lot of minutes at backup point next year than something is wrong with him (or Mick). No way should KJ be getting his minutes.

I would like a complete flip of KJ and Jenifer's minutes to preserve Caupain. Nothing KJ does is irreplaceable. He's had his chances, but he's just not a valuable player for a good D1 team.

It would help if he didn't shoot long two point jumpers on his first offensive possession in the game. He needs to be trying to create plays, not shoot the ball. Would help if he could defend anyone too...

I think it will depend on Cumberland and Jenifer and who is more ready. We will lose Cobb. KJ clearly isn't the answer to going deep in March. If Cumberland is ready we can keep Caupain at PG. If Jenifer is ready we can move Caupain over to the 2.

I believe he's hit last couple jumpers. Mick needs go man when Evans and jenifer in game

Really don't think that would solve the problem. We got killed in our switches yesterday. Ellis and Clark can not guard away from the rim. We also spent the day going under picks leaving shooters wide open. We have tried Man, Zone and a Mix. At this point I have no idea what will work with this group. Defense is effort and right now I see very little being given on that end of the floor. You've watched many AAU games. Freshman come in very raw defensively because they don't play it on the AAU circuit or in HS. I'll give our youngsters a pass for being lost at times but our upper classmen need to set the example. I don't think it is happening on defensive end of floor.

I feel like we all need to make a documentary or a slide or something to show these kids what it means to put on the University of Cincinnati basketball jersey. The whole team plays exactly like Shaq. We keep thinking its' going to get better, but stays the same. Shaq and the team need to get over the hump and play with toughness. I think Shaq will always be Shaq but this team needs a spark.

really don't think its fair to signal out one guy. Shaq is far from what ails this TEAM. I do think Evans is the better player but Shaq does have a role. Everyone needs to take ownership of this big shit sandwich. Coaches and Players need to look in the mirror. Not at practice everyday so I have no idea what is being stressed. What I do know is we give up a ton of open looks and our rebounding has not been what we have expected out of a Bearcat team. As for rebounding Shaq's numbers indicate he has improved in that department this year.

If you believe our problem is defense how can you give more minutes to a player who is not as good at it then what you are replacing. My point is neither is adding value at this time. Its more then apparent we will not be winning by outscoring people.

I'm not trying to be a smart ass here but I really don't see how Jenifer is going to improve us defensively. Now if you want to give up on this season and play him in hopes the experience will pay off next year I would have to ask is it that time.

Oh and I am just as unhappy with KJ's development as you are but he is not what is killing this team. Not only was our defense terrible yesterday but we gave up a ton of second chance points. Unless Jenifer is going to improve those two areas I can't see much difference in the outcomes.

It's hard not to call out our 5th year guy with so much potential, but you're right there's a lot going on. Trust me I like Shaq, I just remember watching him against Creighton thinking that this guy will eventually be unstoppable and that is not the case. I just feel like there's so much potential with this team, but they aren't getting it done. Kind of how I've always felt with Shaq. Regardless, yeah there's is a lot of the little things that we aren't getting done and it's a shame.
