Terry Larrier will transfer to Connecticut, he tells Scout. He played his freshman season at VCU & will have three years of eligibility.

Terry Larrier says he's headed to UConn because he wants to play for Kevin Ollie | Story: http://t.co/dFts9K7s7H http://t.co/BFzh9Ro1lw

Very high recruit out of high school #43 overall on ESPN. Ollie has had a very active spring in landing three transfers. It's great to have them on the schedule 2 times each year

this site has de-railed.

used to be a good source of recruiting info. now it's just BearcatNews 2.0.

deuces.

This site is still a great platform for Bearcat fans. Just been too many people that are happy to type things that they either A) would never say in a face to face conversation, or B) should only say in a face to face conversation with proper tone and context.

If people's pictures and season ticket locations were in the top left corner, as our avatar's are, we would have a much better group of civil discussers.

Well said. There's no shortage of passion for the Cat's here. Sometimes it gets a little misdirected.

I'm 45 years old. Old enough to remember what the program was before Huggs arrived and old enough to understand how to appreciate what is while accepting what isn't.

Tell me how many programs have gone through a span like we did from '77 to '88, got decimated for another 5 year span like happened to us after Huggs was fired (and didn't recruit for an entire year), and continue to be recognized as one of the 20 best programs of all-time.

Now, look at the list of schools on that list of the best 20-30 programs of all time and see how many urban commuter schools are on that list. Then add "have 2 or more professional sports teams in the same town". Unless you think UCLA is an urban commuter school, or the Louisville Bats are an MLB team, there's only one school on that list that fits the criteria.

Appreciate what we have here, or go root for Duke or Kentucky. Whining about recruiting or "demanding" a higher standard for the program is an exercise in frivolity. If you love the program then the real standard you should set is for yourself. Are you going to support the program win or lose? Or do you jump off the bandwagon every time we don't get some transfer from UNC Wilmington? Answer those questions and your enjoyment of basketball season won't be dependent on recruiting or conference affiliation.

I respectfully disagree. I don't see it as an either or proposition of being uniformly happy or moving on to new team. I don't think people are jumping off the bandwagon if they express angst in some recruiting results. I'm excited about the guys that signed but of course would have loved some more recent targets to commit as well. That lead to talking about recruiting philosophy and direction. I don't see that as harmful at all. I don't defend in anyway the personal attacks that have occurred. Maybe it comes down to we choose to enjoy, root, and immerse ourselves in the team we love in different ways. I'd like to think there's room here for all levels of fans.

Rashid gaston has Dayton xavier Iowa state Kansas state and Nevada all showing interest per jerry Meyer

My point is, if your entire oeuvre of fandom is based in the demanding of high standards, you're wasting your time. Complaining about recruiting is a pointless exercise because nobody on this board knows anything about recruiting in general or how Mick is conducting it. Maybe it's different as an alum. I support the program because I went to the school and developed loyalty towards the program as a result. If Mick was incompetent, or wasn't trying, that would be something else. But if your support for the program hinges on getting the creme de la creme of recruits or how many Final Fours we make, then you're rooting for the wrong reasons and might as well jump on a different bandwagon. I like winning as much as the next guy and express displeasure when I don't like what I'm seeing. But it doesn't change my support for the program and University overall.

Did the freshman transfer from Bradley University, Josh Cunningham, pick a school?
I read that he is visiting Illinois this weekend.

@JonRothstein Bradley transfer Josh Cunningham is considering Illinois, Dayton, Mississippi St, + Colorado St, sources told @CBSSports. 7.9 PPG, 7.5 RPG.

This is one big straw man argument. I feel pretty safe saying that most of us are not non-alum/bandwagon jumpers. So who exactly are you talking to? It's kind of weird when people say things like "Go root for Kentucky". Lol it doesn't really work like that.

And if you can express displeasure when you don't like what you see, then why can't others? Bc only you know what's really worth getting bent out of shape about? We are all different. And we all support the program differently. If you think your way is best, great. But it isn't your program more than it is anyone else's on here. And you aren't a better supporter than anyone else simply bc you choose to hold back certain criticisms.

I didn't say any of the things you just ascribed to me. I simply said you're wasting your time if you spend time complaining about recruiting, and if you base your fandom on winning national titles or a certain level of recruit you might as well be a fan elsewhere. What you or any other fan does is your business.

So, once again a fairly innocuous statement is immediately followed by an overreaction and an attack. Ironically, you speak of the desire for a diversity of fandom while treating mine with condescension. Anywhere else I might be shocked...but based on what this site has devolved into...very typical.

^I'm telling you it doesn't work that way. Not an attack. Just saying that telling fellow fans to go jump on another bandwagon is a pointless exercise.

I have no issue with you Doogle. You can root how you want, just as you said to me. I guess I must have misinterpreted your original post. So I apologize.

You misinterpret my point. It's not to say "think like I think or get out". There should be a certain joy in supporting something as unimportant, relatively speaking, as a college basketball team. If the whole thing is about how many tournament games we win, or transfers we pick up, then the point is being missed and you might as well go support a program that can give you the constants (Final Fours, blue chip recruits) that you seek. It's not "my way or the highway" by any means. I just don't think you serve yourself or the program with constant criticism and cynicism. "You" referring to anyone who puports to hold the program to a higher standard via negativity.

That's fair. Thanks for clearing that up.

Very eloquently explained, kind sir. Couldn't agree more.
