You're damn right I'm setting him up to fail if he can't get us to a level of performance that matches our historical standards and our outstanding facilities and the salary he is getting paid. Good riddance! Better recruiting, league championships, conference championships, top 25 annually, some March Madness success, take back our city from X. These are all achievable. If he can't get it done, bring on the next guy.

Can't get all that done in 2 games. For now, enjoy the ride!

I'm giving it a chance and as I've stated there are some reasons to hope this season will be different. Believe me, if we're ranked all season and we wind up in the NCAA's with a 5 seed or higher you probably won't hear much complaining from me come middle and end of the season.

As of right now the sample size is too small to sway me towards an optimistic outlook so I'll let the last 12 years be my guide until proven otherwise.

UCB, it's only been 10 years. I know it feels like 12, but it's not that bad.

I can't stand reading this stuff. Constantly dogging the program (1 of 8 programs to make it to the dance each of the past 6 years). It amazes me how much s*** people talk about Mick. Yeah, our offense could be better. It could improve, it could not. But to be a fan of a College Basketball team that year in and year out win 20+ games and gives themselves a chance in March is something that a lot of people would kill for. Appreciate it.

L-T, like many less educated members of our fan base, cannot and do not want to move past the Huggins era. They don't address the realities of being in the American in the ESPN dominated sports world of today. They don't accept our program's success because it isn't what they saw in the early 90s. Getting to the Final 4/8 and being a top 10 team is not a realistic annual expectation for the fan base.

Lets face the reality of the program, and hope we can maintain a top 25 program with an occasional tournament run.

Lets also stop talking PPG and talk results. I have posted this before, Huggins' last 9 season were really no better than the past 6 from Mick.

Huggins' last 9 seasons at UC.

2000 Second Round Exit
2001 Sweet Sixteen

The attendance of our Top 25 program for two games is 12,368, which combined wouldn't sell out our arena. For much of those games, you could hear a pin drop in the arena. There are lots of UC alumni and fans who are not appreciating this coach's performance and nothing tells the story better than attendance.

It would be nice if our alumni and fans could look past the coach and still support the team, like I do, but I guess they can't.

It couldn't have anything to do with a shit arena and the fact that one of the games went heads up against Monday night Bengals.

Talk about this season please.

There is a 'State of the Program' thread. Take the "decade of Cronin" and "NCAA success under Huggins" stuff over there.

I have been posting on this board for quite awhile. This same argument has been raging for the entire time The reality is Mick isn't going to be fired and this debate generates more discussion then the entire football program. After reading this stuff for years I can say with all confidence you will not be changing L-T's opinion on this subject. To try and do so is like spitting in the wind. You respond to his comment and then get mad at him for derailing the thread. After awhile the blame is not entirely his. Again Mick Cronin is not going to be fired. Even if he missed The tournament this year he will not be terminated. He does not need defending.

And this guy is accusing many in our fan base of being less educated.

Jake I really think we are seeing a team that will get better as the season unfolds. The key for me is getting production from Washington. If he is able to stay on the floor we should win a lot of games.

Our arena is far from a shit arena, and who in the hell would miss a Bearcat basketball game to watch the Bengals, especially this year. We're a Top 25 program. They are going nowhere. Plus, there's a modern convenience called a "DVR" if you were worried about missing the 1st quarter of the football game. I love the Bengals, but they would never stop me from attending a UC Basketball game....never! I'll bet many in the city will not let the crappy arena stop them from coming if we knock off Rhode Island and Duke this weekend.

If you don't think a Monday night Bengals game may effect the attendance of a game versus Albany... you are actually more delusional than I thought.

I am wondering about our back up big situation. Moore, Scott, and Brooks. Who's going to win the Lions share? Or will we go guard heavy?

Moore has the experience in the system but is extremely inconsistent. It's hard to put a guy out there when you don't know if you are getting Jekyll or Hyde.

Brooks seems serviceable for 5-10 minutes but just as rebounder and low post body. I think his game will grow but he doesn't seem ready to me.

Scott seems to fit the system better imo. He does all the high motor stuff pretty well and is a good asset on the break. If we have one big in foul trouble or needs a break I think it should be Scott or 4 guards. If we have two bigs in foul trouble it should probably be Moore or Brooks.

Although it doesn't sound like it's an option I would prefer to red shirt Brooks unless there is something I haven't seen from him yet. I like his potential in a couple years.

You and the rest of your cronies don't get it. The law of averages says Cronin will get lucky at some point and have a good season. If you let the guy sit here long enough, it's going to happen. I'll be happy as hell if the team has a great season, but it will take a lot more than one special season to get me to be happy about the head coaching situation. It's been a freaking decade and we've finished only one of those 10 seasons ranked in the top 25, and we've had only one of our players drafted in the NBA. That's pathetic! You guys that argue for more of the same are the ones with the negative message. I preach a positive message. I love this university and this program and I want much better than a decade of mediocrity where the Bearcats are an afterthought on the college basketball radar and where we are now almost never a destination for any blue chip basketball player. I say let's put an end to this lost decade and ascend back to what this program can be! If you're not on board, then you have a pretty negative outlook that I don't want any part of.

Now, let's go kick Rhode Island's ass and hope that this victory kick starts us to finally have a great season. I believe next year will possibly be amazing and then the next season could be as well. If it all happens, I will be on the Cronin bandwagon with you. But, I won't be there till it happens.

You mean like the one time Huggs made it to the final four..
