Not sure that's the answer. It's 2016...you HAVE to shoot 3s in today's game. I think we just have to hope some of these guys heat up, regardless of how likely that may seem.

I think he means stick with open threes, rather than heaving contested NBA-ers as the shot clock expires.

Not much choice but to launch open 3s...but we should try getting in the lane as much as possible.

I feel like Evans has tried that to a fault lately. Caupain to an extent, but his 3 pt shot has been off for so long it may be the best option for him.

I dont know if it means anything but we are still #36 in Kenpom offensive efficiency after playing 9 games and 4 of them were away from home.

Thats pretty damn good.

We will have to see how it sticks in conference play but in general, its not bad at all

I'm fine with this, IF we can keep a top 10 defense. If our defense falls to 15-20, then the offense has to jump up that much higher. I'm not sure I can count on our offense to do that, so I think getting the defense up to top 10 is more likely/realistic.

I think we'll lose to Xavier. We'll probably split with a few teams in conference and maybe drop an unexpected one. How we look at Temple will say a lot. If it's a gross game in the 50s I'll be very discouraged.

What makes you think will lose to Xavier though?

I mean yes they have beaten us 3 in a row but they play like shit on the "road".

In fact, they look bad even in their wins.

Xavier is #20 in Kenpom and were #23

We are better than them in a lot of categories:

XU EFG%: 49.9
UC EFG%: 51.7

XU Defense ranking: 26
UC Defense Ranking: 13

Well Ill just post a screenshot instead, but we stack up much better then we did last year. And I know Butler shot the 3 ball well on us, but our 3pt defense is super super improved over last year and much better than Xavier's as well.

I think we'll lose to Xavier bc we always lose to them and we rarely win big games. We tend to struggle against competent offensive teams. Throw the stats in the garbage can in a rivalry game like this. Our coach hates playing Xavier...probably bc they've won 70% of the time he's been here. We play tight and afraid against them every year. Their guys make the plays. Our guys don't.

We may have moved up after Butler game actually...lol. if we could shoot 3s imagine we could move up another 10 spots. This is actually encouraging.

Clark really impressed me against Butler and ISU and of course Troy came out last game. We get Kyle's head screwed on right and make Evans understand what he needs to do to get to the league....we might be OK.

Interesting that we are 36th in offensive efficiency and 34th in 2 point accuracy. If we can get Troy, KJ, and Cumberland making 1/3 of their 3s we might be in business.

Or just everyone playing well at once. Tough to do, but I haven't been all that satisfied with our offense, and we're still top 40. Much different than previous years.

Tough to get everyone playing well at once...which is why you need multiple options. Top 40 in efficiency is pretty huge from past years considering our 3 point shooting. I gotta believe that will improve.

Wow, I was really surprised about this. After listening to Cronin's press conference after tonight's game he mentioned about how this team should be a low turnover team. So, I looked it up real quick. Currently ranked 11th in TO% on KenPom, only turning the ball over on 15.1% of our possessions.

Since Cronin has been here, the highest we've finished was 15th, which seems to be a bit of an outlier. Otherwise, we've finished the year ranked 58, 172, 179, 134, 55, 15, 139, 104, 300!, and 61.

I think they only had one TO at halftime. Guys took care of the ball and knocked down some shots. The size differential of our guards was evident as well.

This is a pretty crazy stat.

Which 2 players leader UC in 2pt FG%?

1. Jacobs Evans at 65.4%
2. Kevin Johnson at 63.3%

Usually your bigs lead in this category and we need to both these guys continue to attack the basket and mid range this season.

They should be low turnover. They don't really push the tempo and most their guards pass the ball around the perimeter. That is why it was so frustrating that they had such a high TO rate last year.

Granted, they do have all around better players and passers this year. It's refreshing to see guys like Cumberland and Evans who actually have a clue how to feed the low block.

We were high turnover last year because Ellis couldn't catch and Shaq couldn't dribble.

Caupain, Clark and Evans already protected the ball last year. So our TO got better just by losing the biggest culprits

When it comes to feeding the low block, we have improved significantly since last year. Twice against Texas southern was a good post pass, then double team, kick out, and immediate repost and quick basket. It was a thing of beauty. I believe it was Jenifer and Johnson. Last year, I remember our post passing was horrendous. This year, it's been pretty damn good. Kevin Johnson probably improved the most on the team in this regard. Las year there was a big knock on him for not feeding the post well at all.

We weren't terrible last season. It was the year before that we were awful. Turned it over on over 20% of our possessions.

Yes. Good point. I think you're right about this. It's a small thing that can easily be overlooked.
