Yes, all around getting great scorers. I mean you look at Washington and Broome, they are both known for scoring. Even Quadri coming out was supposed to be a scorer lol. Overall, he's getting more scoring threats.

Damn, true. I forgot about Broome. But to play devils advocate a bit, we had Brooks this year and then Nsoseme next year. Both seem like offensive "projects" but I understand we need bigs who can defend and rebound.

Really Johnson is the only one left from the "old philosophy". Brooks and Nsoseme might be more defensive minded, but I don't mind that at all in our C if we're looking to go 4 out.

Agreed. Our 5 can be on the floor for screens, rebounding and defense. If he gets 8 points from put backs and easy dunks, so be it.

One of the biggest problems when you get to march is other teams who have great talent start to play much harder D than they did all season. They start to match our intensity on D but have better basketball players on offense.

Some teams and coaches know they just have to get to march when they are talent heavy. Without the benefit of talent...we would have to double our already high intensity on D.

I see some talent on this team. It's not deep but we have some. Next year we have more talent coming in...and a shooter.

It's still put up or shut up time for me but I see new possibilities.

I don't want to make it sound like I'm anti defense. I understand it's a very important part of the game and I credit Mick for being one of the top teachers of fundamental defensive basketball in the game today.

Mick himself is quite a defensive stopper. He has been able to stop our offense for a decade. That's quite a run.

So we have the offensive challenged...defensive specialists hopefully covered for the future. If we spend another scholly on that I will be upset unless it's a shot blocking freak of nature.

Gary Clark is AAC defensive POY but he's got other skills. I don't want to go backwards. We will have a great opportunity to sell to a high profile big out of HS or transfer as of next year. One who can play both sides of the ball.

You can do better than this L-T.

Ok...how about this? In Cronin's 10 years as coach, his average national ranking in points scored per game is 208, well into the bottom half of all Div. 1 schools, and certainly not indicative of a program that is historically ranked as one of the greatest of all time.

As a comparison, the previous coach, who many of us annually complained about how horrible his offense was, averaged an annual ranking of 67th best in points scored per game, with half of his seasons being in the Top 30 in points scored.

If we assume that neither coach was the greatest offensive coach, then the difference is probably in the talent that they recruited.

The positive news in that the 2016-2017 team is currently ranked 149th in scoring which would be the best of the Cronin era.

This probably explains the difficulty in recruiting offensive talent to our university.

Broken record.

L-T I don't think that is what he meant. We are 2-0 and heading into a big weekend. Let's turn the anti Mick dial down a tad and see how the weekend unfolds.

Right now AdjO 45th out of 351 and AdjD 9th out of 351. If it stays anywhere near that on both of those things, we're in for a fun season.

Broken record.

This is not directed completely at you but to the The Knights of the Kid's Table in general. Why not tell him how he's wrong or engage in a logical debate?? After all, this is a Bearcat discussion board. I hear a lot of whining from the Mick supporters about the negativity but I rarely see anyone who's willing to tell someone how they're wrong. It's usually just a completely dismissive comment like the one above or a completely irrelevant comparison to our head coach from 12 years ago.

It's after every single topic. The topic could be about Xavier losing and results to Cronin being terrible. It's childish. I turned two friends away from joining because told them how it would honestly ruin your day and put it all in a negative perspective. One buddy is best friends with Gary, I'm like dude you don't want to hear what some of these guys say and how they put a negative spin on about everything. I wish I was blocked honestly or could be banned. Jake go ahead and do it if you can. I'm sure youll inbox me at some point today.
