I think that's wrong...I'm guessing that's average stars of guys that your schools is recruiting, not actual commits.

No way Iowa State is 2.93. Unless they have guys who count as zero bc they're JUCO or something. But if we really are 25, then I guess we should expect Top 25 results?

i can see that. A break here or there and we would have been there last season I think we get top 25 results this season. I really like this years squad. Wish we had a bit more depth but I like our top 7 players. If Moore and JJ step up I really like our top 9

I believe they count jucos and transfers(Iowa States entire roster minus a few) as what they were coming out of HS.

Oh so maybe it's doing it off of the entire roster? I was thinking just our two commits for next year. That'd make more sense.

Its definately off the entire roster minus walk ons. I actually love this site.

They show our entire roster breakdown into classes and shows current targets for each upcoming class.

Yea Plus, this 25th ranking that we have now is for this season only. I would bet that last year our overall average was down as I dont think any of those players were 4 stars that graduated where as we have added two 4 stars to the active roster this year

Right now we're looking at this roster for 2017-2018:

2 PG, 1 SG, 2 SF, 3 PF, 3 C
3 seniors- all post players
2 scholarships remaining

G Cane Broome (rs jr)
G Justin Jenifer (jr)
G Jarron Cumberland (so)
G/F Jacob Evans (jr)
G/F Trevor Moore (fr)
F Gary Clark (sr)
F Tre Scott (rs so)
F Quadri Moore (sr)
C Kyle Washington (sr)
C Nysier Brooks (so)
C Eliel Nsoseme (fr)

We still need to land a wing and maybe another post player since Clark, Washington and Moore will be seniors. Ideally would that be Darius McNeil and Jacob Epperson? Having Clark and Washington these next couple seasons will be such a luxury.

Shaq was a 4 star on at least one site that I know of.
4 stars on the current roster:

Washington
Cumberland
Clark
Evans
Moore

Jenifer was 4 stars on ESPN. It all really just depends what site you go off of.

Also Shaq was a 4-star top 100 recruit on every site I believe.

Nice post. I think the next few years are critical. It seems like we peaked a few years ago after the sweet sixteen and some high rankings. Unfortunately, the 2011 and 2012 recruiting classes ended up offering very little, which really hurt. Think we need to see a sweet sixteen and some 6 or better NCAA Tournament seeds soon, or I'll be getting very skeptical.

As important as making the tournament is, you don't want to keep making it as an 8 or 9. Makes it very tough to make any sort of run. In a down year, sure, but we can do better.

UC peaked a long time ago---- just 2 Sweet 16's in last 20 years. Mick has brought the program back to where it was the last decade before he became head coach, at least in terms of NCAA tourney success.

Alright, so two spots left. Sounds like Keith Williams and Darius McNeill are pretty high priority, since they have visits scheduled here. I'd take either, but prefer Williams, simply based off YouTube footage and things I've read. Hope Reese and Epperson still have interest in UC, as I'd love either of them as well.

I like McNeill bc I think combo guards are great. I love having an option to play 2 guys who can score and handle the ball. With Moore already coming in at 6'5", I feel like he, Cumberland and Evans have it handled at the 3. I'd like a pure backcourt guy to help Broome/Jenifer if need be, but also be able to play the 2. Worst case he'd move Cumberland to the "3" later in his career.

I would tend to agree Jacob. Like others, I think I prefer Williams in that he looks like more of a scorer to me - he shoots the 3 at a fairly high percentage, but he's got a lot of footage showing he attacks the rim aggressively as well. But your point is well taken in that we're already pretty well suited at the 2/3 position and McNiel looks like he could play either the point or SG effectively.

Obviously I'd be thrilled with either - or both. I like Williams a little more, but McNiel may fill our roster better. I'd take Epperson over either one, but I think he's going to end up with one of the blue bloods.

Let's see what the recruiting staff can pull off.

I wish we could be confirmed with a Big 12 invitation before their visit - it couldn't hurt any. However, we should be an attractive destination for either of them.

Fingers crossed.

This is the general recruiting thread where we can discuss the coach. Let's try not to litter the individual recruiting pages with Cronin critique.

I think we all want the same thing...to have a shot at the best players on our radar. Let's do our part not to derail those opportunities. I know this site isn't a huge factor in those decisions but you never know

Thanks, waterhead. It's so nice to come here and simply click on a recruit's name and see if there are any updates on specifically him. I'll fully admit, I pretty much only use this site for recruiting updates anymore.

You're welcome! I would encourage you to stick around for the fan banter as well. We have become somewhat stagnant in achievements which is causing a little unrest but I truly think we have a lot of knowledgeable fans if you can sift through some of the more radical opinions:D

Per Adam Finkelstein

ESPN 100 PG Makai Ashton-Langford tells me he has A committed to UConn. Led @RivalsNation to 4 championships this summer.

UConn gets their stud PG.

They already have a Top 40 player from the 2016 class as a PG too. I guess the playing time excuse doesn't apply to them?
