I literally didn’t say Cronin was a good recruiter either. I just said I thought he sucked at it to.

But his first full class was ranked #19 in the country. Brannen’s first class is shaping up to be barely top 50

Ah, so perhaps by "everyone telling you" you were just telling yourself? Explains some things.

What is "first full class"? Cronin's first class was a bunch of juco's. No way was that a top 20 class.

Brannen's first class has a top 50 player which would be the best recruit UC has had in about a decade.

You are losing the battle, and losing hard.

I think they were talking about the guys that didn’t contribute anything except being athletic. Like some mentioned earlier, if he would have replaced some of those with decent players, not 4 stars, it would have helped.

No. We, as in Brannen & Mick, both under achieve in recruiting.

Xavier is destroying us on the recruiting trail... absolutely no reason for that. I mean they have a top 10 class coming in, why cant we? What coach do we have to hire to make that happen?

I mean, they have multiple high level wings either on the roster or incoming and they still got 4-star deAndre Davis to take an official visit why we were seemingly left off the list when we will have just 2 4 star players on the entire roster next year.

I thought Brannen would change that. But our recruiting is not any better under Brannen.

No.. Brannen’s first full class is the 2020 class, Micks was the 2007 class

CJB’s 2019 class is not a full class, he built in 2-3 months and did a great job. He hit the lottery with a kid who no one else wanted.

But 2020 he’s been recruiting for 6 months plus the rest of the season until the 2020 class. CJB has time to make it great, but he only has 2 spots left.

Mick’s first full class was ranked #19 in the country.

I’m not losing any battles. Mick and Brannen seemingly suck at recruiting

You guys just want to fight.

My only point is... I think the 2020 recruiting is program defining under this new regime. I said that a while ago.. and I had really high hopes for it.

But so far, the highlight of the class is a kid ranked 180 and we had to take his brother who is ranked 400, which is 60 spots worse than Trevor Moore, to land him.

I obviously care more about the results on the court than any thing else. But I hold this program in high esteem and have elite expectations for it. I want to win at everything, including recruiting.

First, the biggest reason Xavier has been able to sustain recruiting is because Mack had a great pipeline and they hired his assistants. All the high level players that Steele was recruiting and building a relationship while an assistant continued as a head coach. Big difference with Brannen. He was recruiting for NKU and hasn't built those connections with high major talent. He is starting to do that but had come into UC fresh. Fact you didn't know this says a lot.

Second, to say no one wanted Harvey is complete crap even for you. Plenty of teams wanted Harvey. Brannen got him, a top 50 player.

Third, I will easily take Brannen's 2019 and 2020 class over Mick's 2007 class that turned out to be a giant dud. Perhaps they were all ranked incorrectly considering none lived up to their ranking.

Fourth, to say Brannen sucks at recruiting after signing the highest rated recruit since Jermaine Lawrence shows or ignorance or bias, or maybe both.

Dude.

We had to issue a frickin letter from our AD when we signed him. SO many of his offers backed off.

Do you really think Brannen just made an instant connection with a random top 50 kid after being on the job like a month? He was a huge gamble for a new staff. Had he not had any legal troubles, he’d not be here.

There was a reason he wasn’t signed to anyone. Word is he was even being pushed out of his prep school.

That said, I’m glad we got him.

But if you think we landed him on just recruiting chops alone, then man, your expectations for the 2020 class should be through the roof since he is a Duke level recruiter.

But if you’re happy living on 3 star recruits, that’s fine. But you can’t say the 2020 class is going as expected.

AND I hope I’m wrong and that we nab Eason. This is the kinda thing I’d love to be wrong about because I want UC to win, not to be right

uh, no it was actually his constant underachieving in the tournament. Nice try.

And so many people commented that we didn’t have enough stars to win in the tourney because contested shot making is What wins championships.

But this isn’t even about Mick.

As for you comments about Xavier, Umm they managed to recruit extremely well even after seeing them suck ass on the court last year.

So Your saying that it’s going to take multiple recruiting cycles for CJB and his staff to get high level recruits?

So when can we expect the new Staff to recruit to its potential then? For real I’m asking. In what year does CJB land his first top 30 class?

Of course there were some schools that backed off and it helped UC out. But there were plenty of schools that would have taken him. He was still being recruited when he committed to UC. You don't think there are players at other high major schools that have done worse things than having a naked picture of a girl on your phone?

I'm not happy with only 3 star recruits. I'm thrilled with the fact that in only a couple months he picked up UC's highest rated recruit in a long time. And I'm pretty happy so far with the 2020 class considering he was so late to the game in 2019 which did not allow him to focus on 2020 until after 2019 was solidified. Plus he still has a long time before 2020 is completed.

Xavier is still getting recruits because (1) as I mentioned Steele has solid connections with these guys and has been building relationships for a while, and (2) Because of Mick, Xavier is a better brand right now to a lot of recruits. They play fun basketball. Mick's style was a slow paced rock fight where he would berate you if you had a little mishap on defense. Brannen has a job to change that with his style of play but right now all he has to sell is his promise....Frankly this is common sense, not really sure why it requires an explanation.

Kids are going to have to see Brannen's style to believe it. It will take a little time. I think 2021 should be a very good class depending on scholarships and I think 2022 is going to be a monster class. I still think 2020 will end up being a really good class.

Can we give the guy time? He hasn’t coached a game. I remember people saying he can’t recruit a month after he was hired. If nothing else, he has at least matched Cronins recruiting before coaching a game. Like I said, if he has success, recruits will come. Judging him and his recruiting before coaching a game is kinda dumb but have at it.

Yep, tourney success was definitely number 1. His “act” would be number 2 for me.

What’s hilarious about his ACT is that... to you, you hated it. And yet to UCLA, they absolutely love mick so far and his non sense approach. The UCLA board is basically a Cronin love fest at this point.

I just think it’s offensive to feel like that the Cronin era was some oppressive regime, it was absolutely fun and some of all time favorite Bearcats were brought to UC by mick.

Jarron Cumberland is mick’s last gift to UC. Can’t wait to watch him work

So who has more success in the next 3 years ?

Mick or CJB?

I honestly think Brannen. I think he gets it. He isn’t stuck in the 1990s. Obviously UCLA is a bigger draw, so he will be able to build quicker but I don’t think mick will be there long Term

Oddly... I think Brannen has far more pressure then mick does, at least in the first 3 years.

Brannen inherited a winning team with a winning culture. No rebuild needed, he is expected to not skip a beat and get us to the promised land,

Micks new team was just picked 8th. Absolutely zero chance that UCLA finishes 8th this year. He has a very very talented roster and he can coach.

I think UCLA makes the tourney In year one. And I’m year 2 he already has a top 10 player committed with only 2 other ships open

Brannen in the other hand is moving up multiple levels. His first top 75 win this year will be his first In his career. AAC is deep this year. Mick on the other hand plays in a pac 12 that was rated worse than the aac

Yes, they love his act now. Let’s see how much they love it when he gets past the 1st weekend once in 15 years. How much you think they will love it? I’ll wait for your answer

Maybe year 1, but UCLA has 100x more pressure. Ben Howland got shown the door after 3 straight final 4s. That would never happen here.
