I’m not saying it’s illegal. I’m just saying he just totally screwed this program up for at least 2 years.

We will get to watch ugly UC basketball all non conference next year, win a few against the bottom of the league and then ultimately get smashed by Houston in the conference tourney. Then JD likely thinks he’s a pro and leaves, the ones we hardly had time to evaluate transfer and then bam, back in to the same mess in year 4 of a rebuild,

John totally ****** him self with this 2020 class and it will come back to haunt him.

He’s also lost the fan base, no one believed in him. There are like 10 die hardship defending him. The rest want him to move on,

It is what it is
I was referring to the people wanting to fire him and not pay him. I haven’t seen anyone saying, I’m glad he’s still here, or defending him. I’ve seen people trying to figure out what’s going on.

None of have access to them have access to the program, were coached under brannen, or anything like that.

They have no idea . KJ included.

If they don’t, we definitely don’t.

They know what it’s like to play college basketball and be coached. Coaches tell them one thing and doing another. We don’t know those things

Going back to the original purpose of the thread. Bryson Spell posted a countdown for his committment announcement. It happens to end tomorrow morning, exactly when Chad says we should expect a commitment.

But they can be actively making up their list of coaching candidates right now. If Brannen is fired I imagine the coaching search won't take long.

Also, we are pretty much in rebuild mode right now anyway. Firing Brannen would be about improving us 2/3 years down the line. Next year is looking like a wash no matter what.

Yah sure. They can be actively courting but unless they are D1 they won’t have many recruiting contacts and by the time hired would miss too many transfers

It’s odd that all the former players are siding with the coach.

Seems a bit like a culture war right now. But I doubt former players know too much more than we do because we are all getting the best info available including here and J Williams and Chad etc etc etc

Yeah makes it come off like half the guys that are leaving are just being dramatic. I’m sorry I’m just no buying into justin and skyblades narrative. He’s a sociopath, like they keep making it worse and worse in their minds with absolutely no evidence. Sure he may be an ******* and did a few things wrong but it’s simply not as big as they’re making it out. A few guys left because of the coach, a few more left because it wasn’t the right fit.

Justin Williams dropped his article on the athletic.

Seems some of the guys flat out hated brannen. didn't agree with playing time and usage, and hated some of brannens rules like no jewelry, hats, do-rags etc at team meetings and dinners.

There is the accusation that he pits players against each other behind their back. That is the biggest issue I had with whats in the article. You cannot ever do that. That needs to be addressed by the administration.
Seen this dumpster juice **** miles away! It doesn’t know how coach in BLACK CULTURE! This isn’t the 50’s my guy or Ivy League. I 100% bet my life he’s been sitting around sick Mick never had white player on scholarship. You basically like Jhub said weeks ago, hired the enemy. He hated everything about UC and current players

Also it’s no accusation he pits players against each other, he did it again for 100x on TV other day when he said, “when one lineup of guys in the balls moves, but sticks with other group”. He always threw shots at Keith without being man and just saying his name. MAw, I’m pretty certain is his coaches pet

John coaches hard. Is tough and demanding. These kids are entitled and soft. That's make take.

He needs coach in trump country! Told you guys when he didn’t already have relationships in place for UC players or kid from Xenia that lets you know what it was. Add on top of that he was against UC at NKU is enough that he should’ve never been hired.

First is just plain dumb. Brannen should know these guys talk to each other, you don't spread rumors as a HC.

Second it's manipulative because he's essentially lying to the guy who he's telling it. Hey Mason, sorry you aren't getting many minutes right now. I expect Zach to transfer, so you'll get more next year (just taking a wild guess at the names).

Either

1.) Zach doesn't hear about it and doesn't transfer, he lied to Mason to keep him happy. Mason now doesn't trust him.
2.) Zach doesn't hear about it and transfers. This is the only possible good results.
3.) Zach hears about it, gets pissed and transfers. Now he essentially forced Harvey out and Mason doesn't trust you.
4.) Zach hears about it and doesn't transfer. Now you've lied to Mason and pissed off everyone. Good luck with culture.

The only reason something you say this is if you are 100% sure Harvey is going to transfer. If he has already told the staff and even the other players that is his plan.
These two players I thought of also. He was testing Mason to see if he was apart of trump country also! Bosses or people in general do this snake **** all time.

Same, so he wanted them to look professional. How dare him!! But here’s the guys on the board thinking he should cater to them. It’s not old school. Give me a break.

This isn’t catholic school, I always thought he looked and smelled more like a “X” type guy.

I was pleasantly surprised after watching Bryson Spell's highlights. He's not some unathletic stiff like Rap. He has a good looking stroke and seems adept at making plays off the dribble from anywhere on the court. Obviously doesn't have Tari's bounce but seems to have an edge over him with other attributes.

Agree. If nothing else he’s a big body. As we’ve seen you can’t have enough big bodies. Even if you have to sit them on the bench for a year. Obviously we need more but it’s a start

A stretch 4 that can shoot it and also handle the ball a bit is a very tough matchup. Hopefully he can bulk up some too so he can hold his own on the boards.

What they do know is how they felt about their coaches while in college, and I'm guessing the reason they're calling the kids soft is they probably all hated their coaches when they were freshman.

I mean did anybody see izzo last night? Grabbing a kid by the arm, pulling his jersey as he tried to run away. And everybody is just like "yeah thats michigan state basketball"

But Brannen is too mean?

I think everything was amplified in a covid year and that caused the blow up. The fox 19 article sounds a lot like what you'd hear from a huggs or cronin player. Very tough on you, pushes you non stop, but also takes you to places you didn't believe you could ever go.

We know the way he coaches makes players better. The giant leaps Scott and Williams took late in their SR years, the jumps Davenport has made. If you stick with Brannen he's absolutely going to make you a much better player. Isn't that the goal?

No one here is against tough coaching. I’m all for it.

But I think John struggles with empathy, connecting with players, and then the more worrisome; dividing a locker room against itself. You don’t build teams like that.

He needs to read those leadership books he passed out to the team.

All in all it doesn’t even matter. Just win. Just recruit good players and actually ******* keep them.

He looks like someone who can be a contributor a season or two from now, and if his body really transforms going into next season we might be able to get quality spot minutes from him here and there.

Aside from Spell, we need a minimum of 4 more players who can give us at least 20-25 minutes game next season with two of those guys being frontcourt players.
