It seems like we're in good standing for Betsey. Is he a quiet lock?

Alabama and UConn are two very tough schools to be in a final 3 with but it sounds like he really values the way our coaching staff has recruited him and connected with him.

I feel like nothing is a true lock anymore but the insiders feel good about the fact that he announced his commit day while Chad dollar was with him.

It's been too quiet with recruiting. We need to hear some good news!

I'm guessing the bigs won't pan out this year, which is really too bad. I can see why coaches went after them, but ultimately it might be a waste of time and resources. These guys are at a point where they might be done with school.

Betsey is a Bearcat. I like the new black unis with red trim.

Great way to go into the weekend.

I'd like to think my 30 second conversation with Cane Broome at the Hofstra NIT game played a big role in his commitment, haha.

Aziz and Jamille denied waivers - Wes said were told last week. Now they are submitting an appeal. Wes said they are very discouraged by the decision. "The issue at hand here is we have two kids who were given guidance on life changing decisions to transfer and guidance by the NCAA as a path to play. They felt they met those guidelines, and University of Cincinnati feels as strongly as we can possibly express that they meet those guidelines as outlined. I expect them to be cleared to play, because they meet those guidelines....its undeniable."

That's really disappointing for the team. I think Wes Miller took a big risk, given how long they've already been in school. I really wonder if they'll stick around for another season. Aziz especially would have elevated the team.

I think the new transfer rule makes a lot of sense. You need to have some control over the rosters. But it's just odd when we see some kids getting waivers and others not. Everyone will have a reason for transferring, and they are usually always legit. I'm guessing the NCAA will eventually have to cave on this too, but it makes it hard to build a program if people leave left and right.

When I see a program like Xavier pulling in THREE quality European bigs in just a couple months over summer, I'm wondering why more coaches aren't getting creative like that. Two are freshmen. The third they are calling a senior transfer, but it's from a school over there. Not sure how that works. They are sending one really young assistant over there for months at a time to scout kids.

Right, wrong or indifferent, the NCAA has a proven track record of being inconsistent in waivers (also in about everything they do).

Me too. I don't feel like I've seen enough of him out there to really say anything good or bad. I only know they didn't feel good about putting him out there when we could have used the help in the front court often. Even if he's mostly eating up space, I'm sure he can play a role on defense.

Listening to Wes speak during Big 12 Media Day, it's hard to tell if he genuinely believes that Aziz and Jamille have a chance with their appeals.

I definitely received mixed messages from the tidbits he gave about the process up to this point and the next steps.

He can only go on based what the NCAA answer was. They are going through the motions, but you can't say anything with certainty at this point.

I doubt that the NCAA really cares what the Ohio AG thinks, but so be it if he sues them. They'll probably view it as an opportunity to test their power and if the rule is struck down, then schools can't blame them when kids try to transfer even more.

Florida and North Carolina's governments made cases for Miami and UNC football transfers, but their appeals were still denied. Seems the NCAA has suddenly become rigid in an effort to shut down two-time undergrad transfers. Bad timing for us since we have two of them at the same position.
