AAC Conference Tournament

We played 7 quad 4 games last year....

Good job reading numbers.

Did you happen to read how many tier 1 opportunities we had last year?

How about tier 1 wins ?

I could go on but I won’t.

Just win the conference tourney and I’ll be a happy camper.

I mean if this team goes to the sweet 16, I’ll be insanely happy. I’ll get JB’s initials tattooed on me buttock mate

And got mad when they weren’t all sellouts

We have a lot of fans on this very board who are “fans” and don’t spend a dollar on the program.

But every game was pretty much a sell out last year. So...

And Colgate doesn’t move the fan needle at all. It’s just a tier 3 game that doesn’t help your resume. Doesn’t excite fans and also can hurt you if you lose.

Add in that, the budget has been super tight for buy games for years. Brannen’s lower cost allowed them to open the wallet up

This years team :
Quad 1: 2-6
Quad 2: 7-0
Quad 3: 9-4
Quad 4: 2-0

Last years team:
Q1: 5-5
Q2: 7-1
Q3: 10-0
Q4: 6-1

One team had a safely in resume and one doesn’t.

One of these lists includes the postseason and one doesn't.

Adjusted to accurately compare YTD vs. YTD:

This years team: 30 games to date
Quad 1: 2-6
Quad 2: 7-0
Quad 3: 9-4
Quad 4: 2-0

Last years team: 32 games to date
Q1: 4-4
Q2: 6-1
Q3: 9-0
Q4: 6-1

*Last year's team had 2 more games.
**This years team has a chance to add 2 more Q1 wins and 1 Q3 win before selection Sunday. Not saying it will happen, but please don't skew the stats to fit your narrative.

I didn’t skew anything.

I just googled 2019 UC team sheet and this came up

For someone who argues every point, seems hard to imagine you overlooked that glaring detail.

So essentially what your saying is... no matter happens in the tourney, the Bearcats of today can’t match nor exceed the resume from last season ?

This is the very reason why I’d rather finish 2nd with an at large bid sewn up then to finish tied with 3 teams for first and still on the bubble

I’m referring to this year. The question is would you rather win the conference tourney this year, then lose the first game of the tourney or lose in the conference tourney and make the sweet 16. I ask the question because some people just want to make the tourney. Don’t really care about winning the thing. Since it’s random. So is it just hearing our name called? Is that the exciting part? Or would you want to give up a conference championship in order to win a couple games in the big one. There is no right or wrong, just curious about what people like more.
I don’t think that is even a question. Sweet 16 is way better in every respect including the fact that you close the season ranked in the top 20 - big time recruiting tool.

This is a short sighted statement.

Last year, we returned just one double digit scorer.
Keith was a dud his freshmen year
Tre was a career back
Brooks was a back up
Jenifer was a marginal player, who didn’t blossom into a shooter until last year
Fredericks wasn’t ready
Cane Broome struggled at this level
Eliel was just a dude who could rebound
Hardnett was a redshirt
Prince redshirted
Logan was just a 3 star freshmen, unheralded

I mean last years team lost gary, Kyle and then jake to the draft.

They weren’t supposed to be good.

Look at that group of guys from an unbiased lens and you see 1 good player, at least going into the season.

This is such a short sighted answer. They were ALL in the system and were all system players. They didnt have to learn a new offense or new defense. They didnt have to learn to play with new players. They didnt have 4 guys go down or start the year injured. They didnt have a center up and quit on the team <redacted>

people really should look up cane broome's numbers in 2018.

If he struggled his Jr year, I'd love to know some opinions of other players we've had.

His Jr year has to be one of the most underrated/underappreciated years of any player we had under Cronin. Really is a shame we moved him off ball as a Sr cause that was just stupid. Really stupid he played less than 50% of the game as a Jr as well.

I think Cane gets a bad rap because he was this dynamic scorer at Sacred heart and conference player of the year and people expected that to translate here. He came from probably the worst conference in D1 to a "power 6" . I think Cane was greatly under appreciated at UC because he didn't average 20 points a game people consider him a bust.

Part of that is also on him for coming to probably the worst school in the country if his goal was to score points.

People really should compare Cane's 2018 with Jarron's 2018. They're gonna be surprised by what they see.

Jarron 2018

109.7 ORTG. 21.5 usage rate. 49.9 eFG%. 52.9 TS%. 18.9 AssistRate. 17.1 TORate. 48.7% from 2. 33.9% from 3.

Cane 2018

111.7 ORTG. 21.0 usage rate. 54.1 eFG%. 56.8 TS%. 26.2 AssistRate. 21.0 TORate. 51.2% from 2. 39.0 % from 3.

Then we tried to turn Cane into Justin Jenifer his Sr year and that did not go well.

Shit. You right boo

Jarron Cumberland’s busted ass shoulda went to Xavier. Ain’t no way dat boy finna score points here.

And SK... never shoulda left New York if he wanted to drop buckets.

Both those dudes had no free reign. Coach held them Back, they coulda dropped 80 a game.

How many minutes and touches did they get compared to Broome? Gtfo with 2 players in 10 years

why even respond to him. his response had nothing at all to do with what i posted.

Hmmm. I wasn’t responding to you.

I’m a cane Broome fan.

But I was responding to the comment that if your a scorer you picked the wrong team.

Which is crazy considering our former coach has 3 players on the UC’s top 10 all time scoring list:

#2 SK
#4 Deonta Vaughn
#7 Jarron Cumberland

30% of UC’s all time scoring leaders played for Mick
2 played for Huggins

Yancy # 16
Gary #17
Troy 24
Cash 25

Yea. If you can score don’t go play for mick lol

When did I ever say Huggins was a great offensive coach? I said he came to the wrong school. Mick is made from the same cloth as Huggins. Play defense as hard as you can and we'll worry about scoring after.

Also, if Huggins best players stayed 4 years like Mick you don't think so of them would be higher?
