I think it's shortsighted to say that it doesn't matter. Winning a single game against a top 3 team in the conference you want in will bring loads of attention. Timing counts for alot. Prob not a deciding factor but helps perception.

And the only box that really matters is if a team can help the conference get to the playoffs. That's why they want to expand.

Then it's a moot point, the deal is done, and let's move on. That way I don't have to sift through the overwhelming outpouring of optimism that is bearcattalk.com.

Heaven forbid people talk about something you don't like. My mistake, we are just here for your happiness. Please accept my apologies.

Sports are played to win. Go tell that crap to the Olympic participants from Brazil that. You have real good genuine people sacrificing everything they have to get Olympic medal not to just go represent.

Easy there, Lombardi. I think you just said that anyone participating in the Olympics that didn't medal is a loser.

And you're talking PARTICIPANTS. Are you an athlete at UC? Welcome to the board.

Because the big 12 wants to be in national championship games... They are not adding teams for more money, although that's an added benefit. Open your eyes

OK, Champ. You've got the answers. So, to summarize:

-BYU and Houston to the B12
-Mick is a low to mediocre coach that needs to be fired
-Our athletic programs aren't good enough.

That sums up 98% of the posts on this board in 23 words. Done and Done! And yet, still you talk. Full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Then why are you here? I'm talking/complaining about uc athletics, you're complaining about uc fans. Pot meet kettle

Based on what, my friend?
Ask yourself this question: if you're a B12 member right now, and football is all you care about (hypothetically), why would you bring in a new member that will add competition for recruits in places you've had free reign?

For Christ's sake, guys...use your freaking brains.
The whole damn B12 is in basically same region already. Houston already getting 4 and 5 star players without B12. Out of that group of 13 being a realist Houston is only school that doesn't need B12, the rest of us athletic futures depend on getting into B12. Every Texas school has LONG $$$$$$$! Houston a couple top 100 basketball players away from actually dominating TEXAS in both football and basketball, competing against texas, texas tech, smu and texas am. We not a lock to be top 3 in basketball or football in ohio competing against osu, toledo, ohio, miami(oh), x(bball) northern ohio, akron. I want to win not lose

I'd have to go back and check the threads but pretty sure this is the first comment I've made about certain fans, after months of reading the same tired trolling over and over.

The funny part? You thought I was talking about you.

Don't care if you were or not but since I don't think byu is a good b12 candidate I would assume you weren't. Just a dumb post that begged a response.

Do you think as of today, that UC has players on football roster to compete with OSU 2nd string? No way they should ever have guys ohio players no lower than 3rd at any position on depth chart be better than our starters. UC is probably the most beautiful college in north and we can't get the best players in ohio to come play for us?

Couldn't they add BYU and UC, get to 12 teams, and have a better shot at making the CFP without adding a school that cuts into the recruiting base of at least 75% of the conference?

I'll stick with UC as their primary choice with BYU and UH fighting for the 2nd spot. That's based on as much inside info as anyone else has. Which is absolutely zilch.

I will say that I'm shocked that Memphis is out (if true) while Rice is still in. But, it would strengthen my argument that there are all sorts of variables outside of football and basketball that are factoring in. Football as always being the primary focus.

I think Houston is proving they already are getting players that wetter recruited by b12 schools. So why not keep a good program in the conference. I think uc is a better choice than byu due to logistics.

Memphis getting cut was odd but they really have zero history in football and only mediocre basketball success. Too late to the party I guess.

B12 Bid

I think BYU only makes sense as a football only add. If they take 4 teams, that could be possible. If they only add 2, I think it's UC and UH.

I sort of thought byu is third to us. Too much crap associated with them. I think this game means little. I am not sure we were not behind Houston before all this

I think too many people take a 1-2 year success story on the field too serious in this expansion debate. It may help the court of public opinion but it's not what is going to get a team into the Big 12

Welcome to the truth. Eventually you guys will ALL come around. BYU+Houston to the Big 12.

I still think it is UC and Houston that get invited. I wouldn't be surprised if BYU gets the nod over us. Hopefully the B12 doesn't just look at on the field football performance in 2016 as the deciding factor.

I don't think their administrators are that stupid....but there are a lot of Texans in that conference.

WORRIED

I am really worried after the poor performance against UT-M. The defense may be slightly better, but the offense isn't close to what it was. We may finish with just 5 or 6 wins.

Ladies and gentlemen, even coach Tubs only thinks they'll win 5 or 6 games.

I love the fact that people believe that a single football game, or even a full season plus one game, is somehow going to propel a school into a conference. I could make a very logical argument that beating Oklahoma actually hurts UH as much as helps them.

But the facts on the ground haven't changed, and there are a ton of factors that play into this thing. And only one school checks every single box.

Exactly! Just bc Houston won one game doesn't mean anything in terms of B12. Who knows, beating OU could hurt them. OU's season is wrecked and they probably hate Houston now lol. Houston as a football program is where we were 8 years ago. It sucks they are getting the attention right now at this time but it is what it is. Maybe our team should man up and beat them. It's a home game for us, no excuse not to. Will we? That's debatable but certainly possible.
