From Jerry Fowler of CBS Sports:
Can confirm #ACC moving to grant of rights (first by @DavidGlennShow). League presidents are clearing with their legal departments.

Good bye major college athletics. Oh well, basketball should still be fine.

Another source...
Brett McMurphy ‏@McMurphyESPN 2m ACC presidents approve Grant of Rights thru 2026-27 sources tell @espn. B1G will have to look elsewhere. 1st reported by @DavidGlennShow

I am shocked to be honest. Only realistic option is Big 12. Maybe Santa Ono can use his friendship with Gee to get us in the B1G. Not holding my breath.

Maybe the Big 12 will still end up needing to expand to 12... with no shot at any ACC, Big Ten, or SEC schools, Cincy would have to be one of their top targets.

Well, that means any expansion that happens at this point, opens the door to another conference. Pac12 schools will not leave for the Big1G, Big 12 schools may bolt for the SEC, other than them though, we're really the only viable candidates left. Boise has a great deal and their own channel, BYU wants to stay independent. Would have been nice if for basketball reasons we could have been in the ACC, at this point, we only stand to gain money by going elsewhere.
Though, it may be hard to compete initially.

Guys...just let it go. We will be in The American going forward.

LOL I don't think people are going to let go of something they've been talking about for the past 2 years.
As someone who's a bigger football than basketball fan, I like being up to date on the situation.

I'm going to try not to be too much of an optimist. Obviously this is bad news. My one consolation is that the grant of rights only limits teams leaving, not teams entering. I really can't see the ACC wanting to stay at 15 or the Big 12 being able to stay at 10. We are still next on the doorstep so we must remain in that position. The difference is now it will be a little more difficult for the parts to move.

I actually think this is a good thing. Everyone just assumed the ACC would be the best landing spot for UC, but the only way it was gonna happen was for the ACC to lose more teams. We'd go from a collapsing Big East to joining a collapsing ACC with the teams that abandoned us, when the Big East was argueably just as good of a conference, and would be just as likely to abandon us again in those situations. It closes off those teams to the other conferences that are stronger conferences and wanting to expand. I think UC has positioned themselves to be a good choice for these other conferences now that the ACC teams are off the table. Until then I think they have put together a decent group of schools that if they all work together could establish themselves as a pretty good conference. The whole situation sucks and I think it affects us more because we were just getting use to playing in BCS games only to have that auto bid stripped away, but we're in the AAC now and need to strengthen it to the point that it's champion is always considered the best of the rest.

The ACC has been considered the best fit because it is only scenario that is remotely realistic. The B1G and SEC will never have interest in UC, the Big 12 has no need for UC.

Well now, that's the real crux of it all. If the Big 12 wants to have a championship game, the NCAA has ruled that it will have to have 12 members.
By denying the Big 12's waiver(assuming it does), it may be the case they go on to invite 2 more.
I don't think we should sit around counting on it. Still very much possible though.
Best thing we can do, is continue to win and try to get into the playoffs as often as possible. Winning cures all. Problem is, after Tuberville leaves, will we be able to guarantee this is still a desirable place to coach?

If not, scrap the football program.
And yes, the ACC would be a much better fit than any other conference.(save for perhaps the Big 1G.)
