My predictions....

1st Team All-Conference: Sean Kilpatrick, Russ Smith, Shabazz Napier, Tashawn Thomas and Montrezl Harrell

2nd Team All-Conference: Nic Moore, Dalton Pepper, Joe Jackson, Justin Jackson and Marcus Kennedey

3rd Team All-Conference (if it will exist): Ryan Boatwright, Isaiah Sikes, Luke Hancock, Kadeem Jack, and Shaq Goodwin

Player of the Year: Sean Kilpatrick (Ideally I'd give co-POY to Russ Smith)

Coach of the Year: Larry Brown

Defensive Player of the Year: Justin Jackson

Sixth Man of the Year: Michael Dixon Jr.

Newcomer of the Year: Nic Moore

Freshman of the Year: Austin Nichols

-------------------
You can practically take these predictions to the bank......
i can agree with your placing JJ on second team. SK gets POY but Smith is certainly worthy as well. Mick gets Coach of the year.. Brown did a good job but Mick's squad was picked to finish 4th and won the league. That gets him Coach of year.

I can see Larry Brown getting coach of the year because they were picked to finish 9th.

I think SMU is a bit overrated though. They have 4 top 120 wins. I was kinda surprised to see that when I looked it up. They've also lost to South Florida and Temple.

Brown's team had a good year but Mick's team won the league and were not expected to. In my mind that makes him Coach of the year. Brown's reputation may win him some votes but Mick should win the award. Am not being a homer either. We won the league and no one predicted it.

SMU was picked to finish 6th and finished 3rd, Cincinnati was picked to finish 4th and finished 1st. So both coaches outdid their preseason prediction by 3 spots. However, SMU hasn't made the NCAA tournament in 20+ years and was under .500 last year. I think fellow coaches will give the nod to Larry Brown.

I can't fault your logic but the truth of the matter is the award is a yearly award based on how your team did THIS year. Mick had the better year especially considering his team won the league title.

oh haha i had googled it, but i guess i found a list that wasn't the official preseason rankings.

But I agree, I think Larry Brown has a solid chance to win because what he's done with that program.

shouldn't be about what he's done with program. It's about how he did this year.

If SK doesn't win POY its a travesty in my mind. That is not to say Smith and Napier didn't have great years and dont deserve votes. If Sean doesn't win it should go to Napier. I don't even think Smith is the best player of his team. The difference maker for UL is Harrell. Every defense UC faces is designed to stop Sean Kilpatrick. That isn't TRUE of Russ Smith.

If Larry Brown wins COY it is simply sentimental. Mick Cronin coached his team to a league title and his team to a top 15 regular season. Winning a championship should be rewarded especially when it wasn't expected.

Any college-age crazy guys feel like road tripping it down for this thing and taking some days off work? I'm feeling it...

Thought about it, but Memphis is further down than I initially thought. Looking at an 8 hour drive. I could do Nashville or Knoxville, but Memphis is a bit much. This is only my 4th week at my new job as well; can't be taking too many days off.

If there's an NCAA Tourney game moderately local (Dayton, Indy) I think I'll try to swoop up some tickets. I've been to Fifth Third probably 137 times and a few road games, but I've still never been to a tourney game.

The sad thing is that going forward Memphis will be the closest team in our league. There will not be a lot of opportunities to drive to road games.

Just watched Katz Corner and their segment on the AAC. Memphis Head Coach interviewed, Louisville was talked about (and Pastner agrees with me Harrell is what makes them as good as they are), and UConn. The only mention of UC? A quick, "They will likely meet the winner of the UConn/Memphis game." Still NO respect!

Andy Katz is always mentioning UC in his three point shot on espn, he, seth Greenberg, bilas have all praised the season we are having, the only game to be talked about right now in our conference tourney is UConn Memphis because it's the only good game in the quarters.

Nichols is only a freshman? Yikes, I really liked what I saw out of him. Congrats to SK and Justin!!

Just curious... do we know where the conference tourney will be help next year?

Reportedly the AAC folks are leaning towards Memphis again. If something were to go down with US Bank Arena, I think that puts UC out of contention for 14-15 but probably the leader for 15-16.

Ideally we could have a rotation between Memphis, Philadelphia and Cincinnati. I would've liked Orlando or Dallas but I don't think either city would adequately support the tournament. I guess Hartford (where the women's tournament was held) could be in contention as well...
