American Conference Tournament Set

Reportedly the AAC folks are leaning towards Memphis again. If something were to go down with US Bank Arena, I think that puts UC out of contention for 14-15 but probably the leader for 15-16.

Ideally we could have a rotation between Memphis, Philadelphia and Cincinnati. I would've liked Orlando or Dallas but I don't think either city would adequately support the tournament. I guess Hartford (where the women's tournament was held) could be in contention as well...

That would be a fun rotation of cities! I would love to travel to Philly and even Orlando! Memphis is a fun city but I def think it should rotate to share the love.

I agree. The problem with Orlando is the local fans aren't going to support the games (unless UCF is somehow really good). The best thing about Memphis is how crazy their fans are about all college basketball and they play in one of the nicest arenas. As long as Cincinnati gets a state of the art arena I think it is a lock that it will be here too.

TBH I would worry overall about the ability to support the games here. Not trying to be a Debbie downer but sometimes our fanbase can be challenging :-/

It's official. I guess leading your team in points, rebounds, assists, and steals does the trick.

I wonder how many assists SK would have a game if anybody else could shoot. He does lead the team in assists, but nobody talks about that.

Napier also lead UConn in rebounding because nobody on that team is very good at it. Napier would have finished 3rd on UC behind Jackson and Rubles. Which is right where SK finished.

Mick is the coach of the year though and Jackson defensive player of the year. I guess they didn't want to give all the awards to UC.

Napier POY, Cronin COY, Jackson DPOY, SK Sportsman of the year = a Major FU. Im sorry but thats a joke, SK and Smith deserve it more than Napier.

8 games vs Top 5 in conference: Napier 18.9 points, 5 rebounds, 3.1 assists...SK 23.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists #Bearcats

Sorry SK didn't win but both players had very good resumes. Could make a very strong case for both players.

Yes but I'm a UC fan dang it. Never leave home without your homer glasses.
Me to. LOL!! The fact we won the COY DPOY and SK was named to first team AAC along with sportsman of the year is quite a haul for our Bearcats. Great year for the Coach, players and program. Still have the Icing on the cake to come with League and NCAA tourneys yet to come. Bearcats thanks for all the enjoyment to this point based on your hard work and efforts.

Unreal just like when he was left off at midseason, this could be a good thing in a way when SK comes out and plays on yet another level. Just heartbreaking a guy that paid his dues and deserved it so bad, oh well its time to light up this tournament.

Great job SK
GO BEARCATS!!

While its ashame that SK didn't win the award. Lets not forget the guys who did. COY Cronin, DPOY JJ and SK sportsmen of the year. Great year to this point by the Cats. No one on this board would have projected these results prior to the season starting. This team blended individual accomplishments into team results not seen here in some time. Lets not spoil that by crying about the one award that got away. I feel safe in saying SK wouldn't want that. He peobaly was the first to congrratulate JJ and Mick. JJ and Mick were probably the first to say lets show them they were wrong about POY by winning the Tourney.

According to the coaches preseason poll Uconn underperformed as well.

POY could have been a toss up for Smith, Napier or Killa. That's what happens when your league has 3 all american guards. I don't think I can honestly say any of those guys deserved it more than the other. It's a toss up so I don't think it's anything to get too upset about. If you're just going on pure numbers alone I think Napier wins out over Smith and Killa. Crazy stat regarding Napier, he led UConn in assists, steals, points and rebounds this season. That's pretty damn impressive.

I'm very surprised that Cronin got COY, good for him!!! He definitely deserves it for the job he did this season. I thought for sure Larry Brown was going to win considering his name and the national media attention he's received lately. While he would have been a worthy recipient I don't think he deserved it as much as Cronin.

Congrats to SK and JJ for their awards. Great year for the Cats and for the first time in a long time we'll get to add another number to our All-American wall at 5/3rd.
