Attendance

As a student its great to see the student section full for every game no matter who the opponent is. Even in the non-conference games that were against cupcake teams the student section has had good numbers. I remember my freshman year even with Lance here the student section wasnt nearly like it is now.

That said, also have to give credit to Whit and the marketing team with the student loyalty program that was put in place this year. That is another reason for the increased numbers but also being a good basketball team that is in the top 25 doesnt hurt either.

The students have been the heart of attendance this year and its been great to see. Making student tickets general admission has easily been the best decision. I was a student when they had the den and assigned seating and it was turrible. The buzz/word of mouth that the students have generated, especially this year has been great. It shows in the student turnout. Most importantly, I think the students have the feeling that going to a bball game is a big as$ party. You can pregame before, drink there, watch good basketball and drink after. That is a winning combo in any 18-22 year old eyes.

I don't care if it's UC, Reds, Bengals............I'll take my couch, no-line at my bathroom, and the cheap refreshments every day of the week.

In today's "every game is on TV" environment, there's no need to waste time driving to any games and wasting money on refreshments and tickets.

Besides, I'm headed for shoulder surgery on my left one, soon. Had my right one rebuilit in 2009. My back and possibly a left hip replacement is probably next. I can't handle all the walking up steps and sitting for a long time in those uncomfortable seats.

Attendance is a young man's game nowadays. :D

Meh. I'm just falling apart from working construction all my life.

Just sounds like you're lazy. Not everybody needs to be a season ticket holder, but if you really don't go to any games of the sports teams you're rooting for, you're doing absolutely nothing to support them. Seems cheap to me.

Completely agree. It was an issue even during some of Huggins best years. Winning 60 - 55 is good but it doesn't help very much in putting butts in the seats.

Being a fan is one thing but for the most part its about entertainment. Give me some oops and transition points! I dont want to see dribbling and a 6'10 guy attempt a lay-up

This is not to say I dont go to games already, just speaking in general

Technically watching on tv is supporting them... Aren't the media markets whats important now days for high dollar conference television contracts. If no one watched then companies wouldnt buy advert time...etc...

Unless you have an AC Nielson set top box they don't know you are watching.

Somehow they know, supposedly the Reds are looking at a nice increase from Fox next go around because they have some of the best ratings in baseball for the regional networks.

I thought I also read at one time or another that UC's ratings on Fox were very strong. This is one of the things that will help them when the next conference move comes.

They have statistics on it but they don't know on an individual basis. They extrapolate the information based on the info from the AC Nielson set top boxes. So if you don't have the box you really aren't factoring into the ratings whereas if you go to the game that is money that goes into UC's pocket....

I have been to 6 games this year, all of which have been wins. I have seen some great games in some great environments. I am overall pretty happy with the overall attendance, but in order for us to sell out every game, we need to renovate the arena.

not true at all. look at Wisconsin, Georgetown, and Michigan State

Its enterainment. People dont want to spend their hard earned money to watch Cash dribble the air out of the ball to 5 on the shot clock.

Those teams have an offense. Its just at a slow tempo

Cant tell me that if we have oops and a transition game that people wouldnt come see this team play. Our games are BORING. Like it or not thats the truth

Half true

When our guys posted up high and low vs 'Cuse (new look for us), it actually worked - somewhat (had they shot the ball when they got a touch). Now all Mick has to do is teach the high poster to turn and shoot. Jumpin' Jack could have done that a couple of times, and Titus, as good as he shoots free throws, should be a high percentage shooter from there as well.

Georgetown won a game 38-37 this year. they might have a worse offense than ours. butler doesn't run an entertaining offense, and Wisconsin's and Michigan State's surely aren't entertaining either. Huggins couldn't run an offense at UC and he still cant run one, yet we filled the seats when he was here. Why?

WINNING CONSISTENTLY; also didn't hurt that the Shoe wasn't so crappy back then.

if you honestly think that a significant amount of people don't go to games because of our offense, you are completely wrong. I would say people don't go to games today because
a. the team hasn't won consistently
b. bad economy
c. bad arena
d. too convenient to watch on TV

butler, Wisconsin, mich state, Georgetown have all won consistently. the only way to fill the seats inside the Shoe is to put winning teams on the floor every year.

winning consistently and playing in NCAA is what brings people out. Ready2go thinks Mick should reinvent his players to play a different brand of offense. You play to the strengths of your team. I really believe he would be happier if we were 500 and playing a different offense. I agree with your point about bad arena. His panties have been in a wad the whole year. The cats are having a nice year. We are a post player away from being exceptionally good.
