Just sounds like you're lazy. Not everybody needs to be a season ticket holder, but if you really don't go to any games of the sports teams you're rooting for, you're doing absolutely nothing to support them. Seems cheap to me.

Well, when I have a hard time sleeping every night because I'm in so much pain, I think I have a legit excuse.

You're not my age and haven't physically hurt your body like I have due to my occupation.

I have a legit excuse. Go pick on those who don't.

Georgetown won a game 38-37 this year. they might have a worse offense than ours. butler doesn't run an entertaining offense, and Wisconsin's and Michigan State's surely aren't entertaining either. Huggins couldn't run an offense at UC and he still cant run one, yet we filled the seats when he was here. Why?

WINNING CONSISTENTLY; also didn't hurt that the Shoe wasn't so crappy back then.

if you honestly think that a significant amount of people don't go to games because of our offense, you are completely wrong. I would say people don't go to games today because
a. the team hasn't won consistently
b. bad economy
c. bad arena
d. too convenient to watch on TV

butler, Wisconsin, mich state, Georgetown have all won consistently. the only way to fill the seats inside the Shoe is to put winning teams on the floor every year.

You hit on some good points but there's more to it. A ton of uc fans just can't let Huggins go. They hated mick so much from the start and now that he's actually succeeding, thy hate him even more.

Neat paragraph.

UC games are boring

AND GTOWNS Attendance this season is ONLY about 700 more than ours on avg. Offense sells tickets

winning consistently and playing in NCAA is what brings people out. Ready2go thinks Mick should reinvent his players to play a different brand of offense. You play to the strengths of your team. I really believe he would be happier if we were 500 and playing a different offense. I agree with your point about bad arena. His panties have been in a wad the whole year. The cats are having a nice year. We are a post player away from being exceptionally good.

so if we were scoring 85 a game and losing you'd be happy. Winning And making the tourney is what sells. Now I'll agree watching a team push the ball like the runnin rebels would be nice to see. But we don't have that type of squad. COnsistently producingww a winner and improving the facilities would go along way in pushing attendance. The rise in attendance this year is evidence the program is drawing old fans back a nd most importantly the students are turning out. Students bring other students and eventually they turn into alumni who continue to support the program. With consistent winning the games will become a event again.

what about Wisconsin? they have sold 17,000 plus for quite some time now. Bo Ryan took over in 2001 and they have made the tourney every year under him.

2011-2012...64ppg
2010-2011...68ppg
2009-2010-67ppg
2008-2009...64ppg
2007-2008...67ppg

I wouldn't exactly say this is lighting it up, but they still draw 17,000 plus because they win consistently. northwestern state currently leads the NCAA in ppg and they cant sell out their 3400 seat arena. your wrong

They run an offense. Ball movement, screening and they have big men.

Having an offense doesnt mean putting up big numbers.

Its boring watching one guy dribble the shot clock away. No transition game, no dunks, no excitement

I think the lack of interest(though it is visibly improving) is based partly on the old timers not wanting anything to do with post Huggins UC, partly on the bad years we had, partly economic and partly on the lack of excitement surrounding recruiting. Lance and to a lesser extent Yancy, were fun to watch and had a lot of buzz around them. SK and Cashmere Wright have not become the main attraction. As someone else remarked, when you can't have two number 1's.
I kind of fee like a healthy Cash could be it but I'm annoyed an unhindered SK hasn't become it. He needs to take over instead of being great for a few minutes and then disappearing.

As for the bigs, it'd be nice if they were big and strong enough, to finish through contact. If they were more a part of the offense. What has to be realized, is you need(in this system) someone to do the dirty work. The offense is centered around the guards. What we haven't had, is someone who doesn't just call for the ball, he goes and gets it. He demands the attention of the defense. When that happens, things will be much smoother.

Of course, Rubles, Jackson and Thomas could try tearing the rim off more often. That said, they do offer other benefits, I just wish they were complete basketball players. They could be so much more. Though, they all still have time left.

I'm sorry for your condition, but don't get all sensitive when there was no possible way of me knowing that.

Not to mention he constantly brings up the fact that he turns down free tickets in an attempt to reference the poor play on the court, not his physical condition.

They also play in an NBA Arena with several thousand more comfortable seats than UC has.

You couldn't pay me to sit in those benches in the rafters where you lose your seat if one fat guy is in your row.

I live in West Chester. I go to quite a few games. Parking is not a issue and I usually have a bite to eat prior to the game. I get out easy after the game and hit 71 and I'm home in short order. My issue is with the arena. It needs work. I'm not a alum and I don't have excess to lower level seats all the time. If I did I wouldn't miss a game. The shoe needs upgrading. When you compare the viewing enjoyment at Cintas or UD arena it isn't even close. We need upgrades. The Program is back on soid footing and the fans are coming back. Spend some money and fix the facility.

I disagree. 5/3rd is a mere 24 years old, it is in good condition, there is no need at the present time for major renovations. Have you ever sat in the upper sections of UD Arena? You are far, far, away from court, UD Arena is basically 2 wings that go on and on. Cintas is a smaller arena than 5/3 Arena, 3,000 less seats. Of course 1,500 seats at the top of each side are going to be farther away than Cintas. Cintas has many, many, seats behind the basket, are seats behind the basket good seats?

You can see the court from every seat at 5/3rd Arena, there are no obstructed views.

Cameron Indoor at Duke is a total dump, it is an airplane hanger, no air conditioning, Hinkle Fieldhouse is also a dump. Should Duke and Butler tear them down and build new ones?

UC does not need to fix something that is not broke. 5/3rd is not broke.

The vast majority of on campus arenas have bench seating throughout, very few have stadium seats. Villanova's on campus arena is 100% bench seats, St. John's Carneseca Arena is 100% bench seats.

The luxury seat/ club seat addition to Nippert is priority number 1 for UC. Any renovation to 5/3rd will have to wait until the Nippert renovation is complete.

Arenas do not sell tickets, winning basketball is what sells tickets.

Ralph I agree winning teams draw crowds. I go to the games under the current conditions but if you don't think the shoe is in need of some improvements your crazy. As I mentioned, parking and travel to and from the games is not a issue. Enjoy the local dining establishments and a beer before the game. Hate the seating and have to admit if I will be sitting in upper deck would rather stay home than sit on a bench. I guess will have to agree to disagree.

To your first point, I agree. It drives me crazy seeing the students packed to the brim, standing and cheering while the red sweaters fill 70% and sit on their hands the whole time. I understand they pay the big bucks so they do what they want, but give your tickets away if you aren't going. It looks terrible on tv when the best seats in the house are lacking.

Every seat at US Bank is better than the worst 2,000 seats at 5/3 and it holds way more people.

And US Bank is a shithole.

5/3 will never sell out consistently no matter how good the team is as long as it has those awful cramped bench seats in the rafters.

I agree. I cant imagine buying tickets in the upper corners. I want to average 12,500 per night. The Marquette game was a great crowd and it was 12,600ish. I cannot stand to see the lower level seats being empty cause it looks horrible on TV. obviously, we cant do this now, but I would love to see the student section be in the middle of the courts instead of behind the basket. Duke, Illinois, and Pitt all do it and I love it cause you can see where the cheering is coming from on TV.
