Hard to read. People are becoming so negative. It sucks because I feel it is really just a couple of idiots yelling at screaming. I still love BCN because of how many people they have. It is always something new.

I feel like a lot of the good posters are posting less and less and the Mick haters are starting to run that site.

Bearcattalk.com has been different IMO. We can criticize but it seems to be a more rational conversations.

Not too mention the constant "servers are busy" message I get after trying to put some time into a reply.

That is why I am over here much more now. This is a great place to discuss bearcat sports.

I hope BCN gets better and I know winning cures a lot of that but I can't stand the constant negativity.

That is why I've focused on BcatTalk.

The atmosphere here is much more relaxed and rational, as you stated. No one takes things too personal and no one acts like basketball rules the world.

I love UC bball more than any other sport, but it is only a sport. Life goes on, win or lose. Many on BCN do not realize this fact.

I'm trying to bring other solid contributors over, but the traffic here is minute compared to BCN.

FWIW, BCN has a gang mentality that is unrivaled.

BCN has a great following, and the guys running it do a pretty good job with keeping all those personalities in line.
I just like Bearcattalk better. :)

We completely agree with each other here. It is bad. It is like having 5 or 6 The Franchises over there:eek:

I still like it but I hope things get turned around. I know some get on the mods for over doing it but I think their sites owner wants to run a very tight ship which is cool.

I hope a few clowns dont run that site into the ground at the height of its popularlity. Some of their posters are finding their way over here which makes me happy.

As greatone said, we may not all agree on things, but the conversation here is generally pretty good. I think usually when there are disagreements, there are some well thought out reasons for them. There isn't "wow you don't know basketball" kind of stuff going on here.

Thanks BA1 for the guidance here. I enjoy talking UC hoops with people who actually like to calmly debate merits on reality. The tone here is much better.

I hate it when people accuse those who have a different take of 'not being a fan'. Uh..kinda why I'm at the site talking about the team.
There are many versions of fans, some won't visit a site like this, some don't go to games, some buy all the gear they can, some are patient, and some.....are awesome who actually join and post at this site. :D

And the recruiting format and info on this site is second to none. I firmly believe that.

I'm not trying to toot my own horn b/c there are many people that help with recruiting, but the layout here is fantastic.

Can't really say it enough how much better the recruiting information here is. Really is so much easier to look at different classes, and things of that nature. This site is a GREAT recruiting information site. Well done to all those who put in the time and effort, it's really appreciated.

Funny I was sitting at work and decided to skim BCN. After about 5 minutes I realized I was ready some of the same BS I read on the site last month.

Bearcat Talk is the place to be. Everyone seems to get along better and the and the discussions are more rational and thought out.

Bearcattalk is and has been the first bearcat fan site I visit throughout the day and has been pretty much since I found out about this site. BCN is running people away because the same people talk about the same things and it gets really old. I like this site much better because the posters actually know what they are talking about (well most of them) and the recruiting info is the shit! I also like to think that you all enjoy me sharing my infinite wisdom of basketball much more than those clowns at BCN. :)

I agree with the sentiment about BCN and this site. IMO it's mostly a function of the number of members. As this site grows, it will become more and more difficult to maintain a sense of community and therefore civility among all members.

We're going to try to keep it a good place to talk, though. Bearcattalk.com may not (yet) be the best place for all news pertaining to our team, but I believe it is already the best place for conversation about our team.

Keeping the animals in line is actually fairly easy. The old guard (you all) know what to expect from posters, and have a great feel for the board. New posters generally are going to be 'nice' as they try to get a handle/feel of a new place..not wanting to stick out too much.
Even when the site goes to hundreds, when a member steps out of line, multiple veteran members will usually slap them down accordingly, and the mods will know when to give a warning or cut that person loose.
I don't see why anything should change. I sure as hell expect things to continue as is, and if it means thinning the herd as we grow, so be it.
This is our board.

LOL @ this thread being deleted on BCN.

If BCN mods or admins read this site, please know that I meant no malice in my statements about BCN going downhill...I am simply expressing my sincere opinion. Hope there are no hard feelings.

They deleted my post on BCN. Another sign that they are getting out of control.

I know Lobot and others come here. Please PM me on either site to talk about this stuff.

I think I'm done over there. Not because they deleted some posts (heck, we do that!) or anything like that. I just don't see a need anymore. I like to interact with a lot of Bearcat fans, but as you said, the negativity is overwhelming and not worth my time.

Instead, I'll continue to try to build something here.

Bingo.

I still frequent BCN quite often. In fact, I probably posted 10-15 times today regarding a few topics.

However, the civility over here is leaps and bounds better than BCN. As SWG mentioned, that is largely due to lower membership and familiarity with each other.

I get some nice knowledge at BCN, but the negativity has driven me to BcatTalk.

IMHO, which is prejudiced as I have been banned, the moderators are over the top. They do not allow free discussion, if you are not in agreement with their way of thinking you get banned. They are Huggafiles who hate Mick. I got banned because I support Mick 100% and believe Mick is the right guy for the job. I believe UC made a good decision in firing Huggins, he was out of control. I believe Huggins brought the firing on himself, and Huggins deserves all of the blame for the downfall of UC basketball, he caused it, it rests squarely on his shoulders and no one else's.

Ralph, I agree to a point. If Huggs didn't have a propensity to drive drunk and puke on cops, we wouldn't be having this conversation.
