Chip Brown on with @ClayTravis said ESPN wants BYU but the votes are likely there only for Houston and Cincinnati. That's just peachy.I

Sticking with my picks of Houston and BYU.

Byu is too far away for the schools. they don't want to create another outlier like wv.

Unlikely. This would be a big win for Texas and essentially a loss for the rest of the Big 12 schools. If it is only two, odds are it is Cincy and BYU. Texas is essentially the mouthpiece for ESPN and the only reason Houston is even in the conversation is because Texas is trying to have a branch campus in Houston. The only way, as I see it, that UH and BYU are added is if there are 4 teams added.

ESPN wants BYU. Houston gets in due to politics. I think the networks will push it back to 2018 and recommend they only go with 2 schools. Heard it here first.

Very unlikely expansion is by just 2 teams and if for some surprising reason they do just do two teams no way the presidents would vote just houston and byu that's not happening.
Been hearing uc and byu (just football) in 2017 and Houston and Memphis or UConn in 2018

@TheReal_DNewm ESPN likes UC. Actually likes UC more than any other expansion candidate, per source close to Big 12 presidents
* uc byu Houston and Memphis are ultimately in and I believe UConn might get acc invite not soon after. Just sit back and wait for the announcement

I like what we have to offer as opposed to some of the other schools.

1.2 billion dollar endowment (second to BYU)
Travel partner for WV and help for ISU
Competitive in football and basketball
Academics are certainly serviceable
Decent TV market
Recruiting hotbed Ohio
Large enrollment

I think BYU would easily be 1st choice if it weren't for location and Sunday competition for non football sports. Houston is mainly only a choice because of Texas campus hopes there.

Add two schools we may have to worry about University of Texas politics/pressures. 4 schools and we are a no brainer. UC has the most combined check marks by their name.

I have a question for the expansion pros out there. Let's say UC gets into the Big 12 and someday the Big 12 gets poached by the other P5 conferences to fulfill the P4 16 team vision. Do we look any better (to them) than we currently do by getting into a P5 conference as opposed to being in a G5?

Do we fair better than a Kansas, TT, TCU, K State etc? Would the P5 inclusion help with our future reputation?

Another question. I am hearing Uconn could get an ACC invite if they get shut out of Big 12. What does that do to ND? Do we have a shot at ACC if we get shut out of Big 12? Would we rather be in the ACC?

We fair better in conference contraction if we're in a P-5 than if not in one. I don't see Big 12 getting poached because the GOR will be extended to appease the very schools you mentioned.

Second question - no. ACC is a good fit from our perspective due to past Big East and Metro partners. We'd be top half or better in football and competitive in basketball. We aren't a fit for ACC. They went too far inland last time with Pitt and Loserville. UConn is better ACC fit as 16th. If ND pulls out, then I think ACC looks to UCF or USF.

I'm not one of the experts. But I know Kansas will never be left out of a power conference.

Thanks for the response. Seems reasonable.

ND can't pull out. As part of the new GOR that the ACC signed as part of the ACC network ND has to join the ACC if they ever join a conference.

Notre Dame cannot join another conference w/ out penalty until 2036. They have repeatedly stated their goal is to always remain an independent in football.

My hope is for BYU and UC first 2017 or more likely 2018. Then let the politics and lobbying occur for the last 2 spots for the following season.

Houston, Memphis, UConn, Tulane, CSU, UCF, USF, Boise, etc

I will sign the GOR today...lol:D

Why do you say most likely 2018? I have heard several times it would be immediate for 2017
