Big 12

if it came down to Utah state university and UC I have a feeling you would say USU makes more sense...

Bhahahahaha

I get not letting yourself get emotionally up so the fall won't be so hard. I do. In the logic I 'try' to apply to my posts, I think objectively UC has a good chance of getting an invite. In my heart, the dejection of the past says I'll believe it when I see it. Don't let our passion get I threat of objectively discussing that UC has as good a chance as any of the top three.

Houston and BYU makes the most sense. BYU is the best brand available, Houston has the political backing and the best chance to be a top 15 team for the foreseeable future in football.
What happened to your insightful posts? You need to remove the rain cloud over your head or move on man.

Is it possible for the ACC to add any members? I feel like if UConn gets left out, they would make a push for the ACC.

Maybe...with Noter Shame included in the ACC Network, they'd need ND to be full time member in order to expand. Even if the ACC expanded, it would be only one team because ND is full member in all other sports. BC kept UConn from the ACC last time and BC has lost any clout they had. If there is ACC expansion, I think UConn is as close to a shoe in as there is, unless they get Big 12 invite this week along with us.

Is the vote this week?

While there has been a lot of public politicking for UH, BYU, Memphis, UCF, etc., but it's been radio silence from UC. I'm confident that that's good news in that they feel they're in a good position already. I certainly hope that's correct.

I still think it will be 4 schools: UC, BYU (football only), UH & Memphis. I'd love to see UConn, but I don't think that will happen. Tulane is an interesting option, but they are so far behind the curve that I don't see them making the cut either.

All I have to say about that is it BETTER be the case! If we (our university brass) get caught twiddling our thumbs again like we did with the Big East debacle and then having to cow tow to Cronin to stay after finding out he was considering another job makes it seem like we are somewhat inept.

If we assume we are in but don't continue lobbying...other programs could very well pass us by offering special concessions or being more imaginative at the bargaining table.

This battle won't be won on Twitter or in the public eye. As long as UC officials are doing the work behind the scenes, that's all that matters. The proof will be in the pudding. They should have a position of strength compared to many other members. If Big 12 comes easy and doesn't include Cincy, we need all new leadership.

This may in fact be the case. There is chatter that UC representatives were at Big 12 offices this weekend.

Any chance the Big 12 will pull an ACC? Add 4 teams and then make it next to impossible to leave? That would put the Pac 10 in a bit of a bind no?

Doesn't sound good for the Big 12...

ESPN and Fox are both even threatening a lawsuit if Big 12 goes through with expansion.

No need for them to worry. It means the current P-5 will be in existence for the foreseeable future because there won't be a P-4 format without one of the conferences being located on West Coast and consisting mostly of current Pac-12 teams.

The NCAA should be doing cartwheels because it means the P-4 won't break away and deal directly with the networks, which is why the networks are furiously fighting Big 12 expansion. ESPN successfully dismantled the Big East with the ultimate goal of contracting to four 16-team conferences. In general, the Pac-12 is safe because it makes more sense to keep them along with SEC and B!G and (I think the networks hoped) the ACC. Then it would be neatly divided into East, West, South, and North. The networks are taking aim at the Big 12 and should've done so in 2010 instead of bailing them out in 2012.

Amazing. They break apart conferences and get the ball rolling and then get mad when it doesn't roll their way in an immediate fashion. Screw them......but unfortunately them and their $ have clout.

The best case scenario is if UC gets in AND the GOR gets extended through the network agreements. It sounds like that could happen.

That would certainly be great for UC and our athletics programs.

It doesn't sound like they would get very far after reading the links provided by red-n-black-attack

If they added 2 or 4 teams (assuming 1 was UC) and extended GOR for as long as the ACC...that would be HUGE!

"But, when it is all said and done, my source believes that simplicity is likely to win out. While some of the bigger solutions may look sexy, the likelihood that eight Big 12 Presidents agree on all the components of a big move is unlikely. As it stands today, Cincinnati is likely the easy 11th member while the debate over the 12th member will center around UCONN and Houston. My source believed, despite reservations, that Houston would win out. Also: "I wouldn't be surprised to see UCONN find a home in a power 5 conference before the Big 12's process is concluded.""

I have now read a lot of scenarios...although I feel a little wiser on the subject I'm not sure I'm any closer to knowing what will happen. LOL!!

I'm just glad we are a major player in the discussion right now. Perhaps we will find a home before it's all said and done.

Chip Brown on with @ClayTravis said ESPN wants BYU but the votes are likely there only for Houston and Cincinnati. That's just peachy.I

Sticking with my picks of Houston and BYU.
