Big 12

I was DEAD ON when I said the ACC was not going to get raided. I was the only one saying they were fine even though Maryland had just left. I also was DEAD ON about the Big 12 until yesterday afternoon when every analyst was stunned about the news. I still find it hard to believe Cincinnati will ever play a game in the Big 12 but I am beginning to doubt that notion. It's would be a disaster because after just a few years Texas & Oklahoma will bolt and we'll be almost right back where we are now.

so we'd end up still in a similar position after having a few years of big time, big conference action? how's that a disaster?

The increased money, exposure, and attendance would easily make it worthwhile, even if we end up in the same position we're in right now. How does a, at worst, lateral move constitute a "disaster"?

Dang, beat me to it. Agreed completely, worse case scenario we end up here. Best case, we use the move to increase our brand and potentiality move on to another conference in the future OR the Big 12 stays together and we're playing in the P5. Disaster waiting to happen seems like a pessimistic outlook, and it'd be difficult to persuade me otherwise.

That would be like saying after Mila Kunis invited me over to her house that I am not going because she will probably dump me and I will be back where I was. If TX and OK did leave someday I wouldn't be surprised. But this is the only P5 invite we will possibly get so you have to take your chances and go for it. If TX and OK left I think that what would be left of the Big 12 would have a good chance of still being in the haves of college sports. A better chance then if we were in the AAC still.

Yeah exactly. If Oklahoma, Texas, KU, and Baylor or Oklahoma State left, the KState, TCU, TTech, Iowa State teams + whoever joins with us would still be better. Anyway you slice it, it can't be bad to leave the Tulanes of the world behind.

Whatever happens, it would benefit UC greatly if it gets in the B12 monetarily and with exposure. It is infinitely better than shutting down the FB programs as NTS has suggested before. You never know, with TT's comments about other shifts in realignment, maybe the ACC looks at adding UC and UConn.

The only reason it would be disastrous is that NTS stated that he would never post here again if UC were to get in the B12

I hope to god we get in the B12. This is most likely our last chance at a major conference. I might be on suicide watch if the AAC gets raided and we still get left out.

I'm not getting my hopes up, I got so excited when I thought mick was going to unlv then he didn't, I can see this being another dangling carrot.

Shhhhhh!! You must not speak of that. I can not even fathom the thought.

If, and they should expand to 4 teams, I am feeling pretty good of our chances. Only bring in 2 teams and I am a little nervous.

Honestly, there is no reason for them to not to expand to 14 teams. All the P5 conferences have at least 14. No sense for the Big 12 to look at adding two more teams a few years down the road.

I have a bad feeling we are behind Houston and BYU on the candidates list. I hope they add 4 teams...

My hope in that case is that they don't want 5 Texas schools, and don't want West Va left in no man's land by themselves.

Houston is a huge recruiting city for not only the Texas schools but the whole big 12. You are going to laugh at this but one school that does not want Cincinnati in the big 12 or any power 5 is Ohio State.

I think that's absolutely true. They are probably making a case against us...lol

Per Espn the Big12 coaches did a poll about which teams they want and BYU and Houston are 1-2 with UC and Memphis tied in 3rd.

I still don't get Houston at all. They are already in Texas, everywhere. Houston has has one good year. They should want the Ohio recruiting network. They need to bridge the gap for WVU too.

I saw that too and first time to see UC not in the first two. With you on Houston, makes no scents.Big 12 teams will lose recruits in southern Texas. Think Ohio State is paying them off. LOL

The B12 FB coaches are not the ones making the decisions

Going back and adding up rating from the past three years 2013, 2014, and 2015 (including conference championship and bowl games) yields the following:
Navy = 41M
Boise = 39M
BYU = 39M
UCF = 31M
Houston = 25M
Army = 23M
Cincy= 22M
Northern Ill = 21M
East Carolina = 21M
Temple = 21M
UConn = 20M
Fresno = 19M
San Diego St = 14M
Memphis = 14M
USF = 13M
SMU = 13M
Tulsa = 12M
Tulane = 5M

Based on this year's TV schedule with Houston playing OU on ABC in addition to three Thursday ESPN games, Houston should overtake UCF for 4th behind Navy, Boise, and BYU.

Four Additions Should Be:

BYU (Football Only)
Boise State (Football Only)
Cincinnati
Houston or Memphis (I'm leaning Houston)
