Big 12

Waite the whole original point was that now we know we aren't going anywhere right now, so the next step is finding a football coach who can make us competitive in the AAC again. I have no idea how you got to telling me that I'm kidding myself if I don't think this has an impact on basketball, but I haven't said a word about that.

I agree. Time to move on from Tubs. Would have been easier with all that extra money from the Big 12 though.

Playing in the AAC hasn't hurt Houston in football. It didn't stop UCONN from winning a national title in basketball!

Maybe. just maybe, it who runs these programs....exp when other teams have been to the top playing in this conference.

Uconn won that title with players they recruited while in the Big East. Same with Louisville. It hasn't been long enough to know how this league will affect teams long term.

Where is Houston now? They gonna make the playoffs? Even if they won every game they would have needed help to make it.

Hard to knock them for not making the playoff. They've had a hell of a 2 year run (they were lucky to bear Tulsa Saturday though not sure if anyone watched that). But Houston's current model and our model before Tuberville are the path to success in our current state. Small window with the right hire. Houston is going to go back to normal in a year or 2 when The Hetman Effect wears off. But it is totally worth it.

I got ya. My mind set is this will be a big hit to all our programs. The disparity to the haves and have nots will only get wider. At this point I could careless if we fire TT or not. First I want to know how our football program will beable to financially lead the way for other programs. What is our earning potential? Getting us to the top of the AAC is not going to get that done. After all the investment would we have been better off as a basketball only school?

As the disparity in money continues to grow you will see less of this.

So no expansion + a Big XII Championship Game next year = having a 9 game round-robin conference schedule + a title game? The Big XII better hope to God that the playoff expands to 8 bc there's no way in hell a team is making it through that every year. Plus, you see how Baylor is viewed for their non-conference scheduling, so add in having to beat at least another quality team before the conference slate even starts? Good luck!

I honestly wonder if the NCAA structure is even legal for football. Is it because there is a "possibility" a non P5 school will be allowed to participate in the playoff? The NCAA is essentially not allowing a non P5 school a chance to succeed.

Your not comparing apples to apples. Going forward the network contracts will continue to widen the gaps between the haves and have nots. It will only get tougher to compete going forward.

I think they will see a tipping point. Sooner or later it won't be lucrative to pay outrageous amounts to display games.

Sure doesn't make much sense for them Jake. I truly believe that Texas and Ou will be departing the conference in the next couple of years.

I agree, there is probably a case to be made for public institutions gaining so much while others get so little. However, getting a judge or politician on board with that is impossible due to $$$

It has 't happened in my lifetime in any sport. Prices keep going up and people keep turning out. Especially in sports that have a limited amount of games. Like football.

The landscape has changed since the addition of a national championship game. In essences they are alienating fans of most schools who never have a shot at anything or forcing them to watch teams as if it were the nfl... There is already an nfl. At least basketball every school has a chance.

ESPN is currently paying Cincinnati $2 million dollars. UC is not worth $25 million and neither is any other AAC school. The only school that is even close to that number is BYU. That was something simple that no UC fan understood. I was saying this for YEARS. I once said I'd leave this board if UC ever got into the Big 12.....and I ain't going no where.
I doubt TCU, Louisville, Baylor, Utah etc was worth much before they joined their respective conferences. Expansion would have benefited the conference long term. Just no one in the big 12 is in it for the long term. This will be the big east redux. All the rats off the sinking ship first

Now that this is finally over, the people that were supposed to help UC get in to the Big 12 can leave. Bye Tuberville. Bye bye Bohn. Farewell to those two losers.

Heel the pain to this sad situation that we are in is for the football team to find a coach that will get us winning again or at least numb the pain. Boise ST , example. We were late to the party, which will end up with the p4. That is why LOUISVILLE took their coach back because he got the mind set to be ready for at that time the p5. Brian Kelly tried the same but between being here a short time and a little late we missed the ship. GO UC!!
