Big 12

Help Support BearcatTalk:

I don't think anyone can say our school didn't put forth their best effort to get in the B12. The B12 has showed everyone how dysfunctional they are by not being able to come to a consensus on their future.

We have to keep focus on building our brand. We need to keep supporting our athletics financially and we will be ok.

Besides....we don't need a power conference for Bball success. I'm sure everyone will be happy if we are successful in Bball regardless of what conference we are in.
Effort only counts in Tee ball. Results are what matter. If you don't think that conference affiliation won't affect basketball your fooling yourself.

Jake won't the financial gap continue to widen? Schools not in a P5 are going to be at a growing disadvantage.

Well like I said, in football we should be middle of the pack at worst in FBS...which is behind the majority of P5 programs. But regardless of the name of our conference, we should be competing within that conference. No disadvantage among our peers.

after posting on this board for quite a few years hearing someone settle for middle of the road status is strange. You could also look at it as middle of the road at best. Also being that the financial train in college athletics is the football programs how will this affect other programs. Guys this is terrible news for our university.

Well, there is nothing you can do about it and if you think you can then you are fooling yourself.

UC is not appealing enough to be an add to any P5 league...
NTS i really don't have a good argument to refute what you have said. The business side of me says that Texas and Oklahoma are positioning themselves to vacate the league. I also think eventually the P5 will be a P4. In business to create a ROI consolidation to control the supply is advantages.

ESPN is currently paying Cincinnati $2 million dollars. UC is not worth $25 million and neither is any other AAC school. The only school that is even close to that number is BYU. That was something simple that no UC fan understood. I was saying this for YEARS. I once said I'd leave this board if UC ever got into the Big 12.....and I ain't going no where.

AAC should buck the ncaa and start paying its players. Then we could gain the good recruits and put a better product on the field. It's not like being affiliated with the ncaa is helping football anyway, zero chance of a group of five team to get to the playoffs. Shift the power... Until the other conferences did the same.

I'm saying middle of the pack AT WORST in the entire FBS in football. That's realistic and it'd mean competing for AAC titles regularly. Obviously in good years we could appear in the Top 25 polls, but I don't expect to be a fixture there in football.

Playing in the AAC hasn't hurt Houston in football. It didn't stop UCONN from winning a national title in basketball!

Maybe. just maybe, it who runs these programs....exp when other teams have been to the top playing in this conference.

That was the only reason I was hoping UC would get in the Big 12. :)

Before people start jumping off the ledge, you have to understand that in another 9 years, we would have been doing this dance again anyway. The Big 12 is a sinking ship. The good news would have been the opportunity to do what Louisville has done and enhance the brand during those next 9 years so that UC would be more attractive to other conferences. Now, UC needs the big companies in Cincy to step up, support the University and sports programs and allow UC to elevate no matter the conference. Fans need to step up and support the program rather than look for excuses to NOT support the programs and University.

Waite the whole original point was that now we know we aren't going anywhere right now, so the next step is finding a football coach who can make us competitive in the AAC again. I have no idea how you got to telling me that I'm kidding myself if I don't think this has an impact on basketball, but I haven't said a word about that.
