UC football and basketball are good programs and neither are dominant in any way.

UC is a dominant force in basketball. Conferance championships, National championships, pro athletes, playing in the Big East (a basketball conference) prove that.

Whats the biggest UC football win? Top 5 wins? this will be interesting.... I could name game after game that put UC basketball on the map.

For UC I think it is safe to say it is easier to get into a BCS game but what we need to consider is that UC is a football school.

ha

I'm not trying to downplay a BCS game, I just have always thought it was easier to get to a BCS game than the final four.

Maybe you are right though, about a football school. I think for a school like Duke, it may be tougher to get to a BCS game than a final four. They are no where close to being able to win enough games in the ACC to get to a bcs game, but their basketball team is usually loaded, so it's a safer bet that they get to the final four before a bcs game.

Who knows, this really doesn't add much to the topic. I just thought it wasn't fair of ralph to say UC got to a final four in football, when was the last time their basketball team has.

QUESTION??!!

Who says the Big East will lose its BCS bid if we get back to 8 teams? If I am not mistaken no conference has had their BCS status stripped from them. While the BE will be weak in football, has anyone mentioned of the process of the BE actually having the AQ taken from them? I feel the BE would have some valid ground on fighting that.

Only the misinformed say that.

The misinformed also say that there are 6 BCS Conferences. There are 11 BCS Conferences, you can look it up.

I posted an article that references this exact question in the other expansion thread. It was written by Outkick the Coverage and was really well done. Let me know if you can't find it.

Personally I would probably invite Boise, Air Force, Temple in that order and stop at 8. I don't care about TV markets, making money, attendance, or anything else though. I care about playing in a competitive football conference in the short term, keeping AQ status, and remaining in a great basketball league. That will keep me very excited about UC sports.

For fball, you're upgrading if you go from Pitt/Cuse to Boise/AF. Obviously, I would have preferred that TCU come, but we're not really getting worse than it always was since UC's been here.

You have to go more than 8 in order to have security in case another team or two leaves. Best to go to 10 or 12 and not have to worry if one or two schools leave.

Disagree. You think a school like Houston or UCF would accept a BE offer now, but not when Louisville or WV leave? I don't. I think if you can get them now, you can get them if and when you need them.

It's all about money and television markets. Houston is top 10 and so is Orlando. The Big East is looking for the biggest payday possible in negotiating their TV rights. Temple is a factor because Philly is something like the #4 media market. Same for Houston (who has had recent success) and UCF. The Big East wants to expand to 12 to get a Championship game, add schools who not only can help in football and basketball, but more importantly, can help in the revenue department with their media markets. That is why SMU is being considered and that is one major reason Boise is not a shoo-in for an invite.
