I'm not sure how the committee will look at it, but out of our projected 9 group 1 games, only 1 of them is at home. we have put in a lot of work away from home and i have to think thats a good thing.

if we take care of our home games and split the road games vs wichita st and houston, we are looking at 13-3 in group 1 and 2 and 6-2 on the road.

it would be so hard for the committee to knock us if we pull that off.

i actually kinda like our road to high seed over that other team in town. they are currently projected to be 10-6 in group 1 and 2 (5-6 in group 1) and 3-4 away from home (1-4 in group 1). but they definitely have the ability to get a 1 seed if they win the tough games and im not sure we do.

This is the flip side to the "we need a marquee win" argument. A Group 1 home win is likely to be marquee by definition, since it must be top 30. But a bunch of Group 1 wins without any marquee wins means a bunch of road/neutral wins.

If we lose at Houston and at Wichita, we are probably looking at a 4. Can't lose both of them. We don't have any room for error.

It's definitely a variable they look at along with many others. How did a team perform away from home? The tourney is played away from home obviously.

I think after a team gets placed in a "general seed" based of off overall resume this would be one of those "tweaking devices" they use to find tune the seeds.

As Sedziobs mentioned...some of this stuff is factored into the new groupings...but I think a little bit of further tweaking can still be done upon closer review.

I think we are going to look a lot better this year as opposed to last year if we can manage to keep winning. 4 regular season losses last year and we got a 6 seed. This year I think it could be a 3 or a 4. Either way I think it is a protected seed.

ESPN Bubble Watch says we are not a lock to make the Tournament. Rather, we are in the "Should Be In" category.

For the people that dive into all the metrics. What is the difference from last year compared to this year far as our quality wins. Last year we were 22-2 and not listed as a top 4 seed. We beat Xavier, @Iowa State, @Houston, and SMU. This year we will most likely be a top 4 seed when they release the info on Sunday. Is it because the quadrant 1 & 2 wins like everyone is talking about? We are 11-2. What were we last year?

How we are 11-2. Was last year not the same?

Last year 3 for 7 for column 1 and 3 for 4 column 2. Total 6 for 11.

I think right now we are like 12 for 14 total or something like that. 12-2 much better than 6-5.

Columns are the old method, Groups are the new method.

Last year:
3-2 in Column 1, 4-0 in Column 2.
4-2 in Group 1, 3-0 in Group 2.

This year:
4-2 in Column 1, 6-0 in Column 2.
4-2 in Group 1, 7-0 in Group 2.

So the Group system helps a little, but we also have quite a few more quality wins overall.

Edit: This is just RPI resume. Our other metrics like Kenpom are way better this year.

I thought group and column was synonymous...lol. I looked at a team sheet from last year and it included conference tourney. In that particular sheet we were 3-4. Of course we lost to SMU in the finals.

Are those games on team sheets?

The numbers I gave are through week 14. Last season's full season numbers will look different. But yes, the conference tournament games will show up on the team sheets. I'm not sure how much they get considered though, since the committee will have already started deliberating by then.
